See Techman05. Republicans are the ones unsatisfied with the number of deaths.

And they say this when we are still adding 25k new cases and 2500 new deaths a day. Crazy.

I was about to say the same thing as far as Trump talking about it. He pushed for this drug almost a month ago. With this kind of thing you have to pursue multiple avenues. They will continue to work on more potential treatments as well even if this one proves to be effective. As far as whether Trump should be promoting a drug I think him championing these drugs is a big part of them getting through the process as fast as they are. There are risks associated with pushing a drug through, but in this case I think it is worth it to save lives.

I remember this. I think he talked about Remdesivir and HC at the same time. So my question, why did everyone freak out about him talking about HC but there was not a word mentioned about Remdesivir?

Right, the GOP is the party of death. Why, they even advocate, no more than that, DEMAND that babies be slaughtered! Millions and millions of babies too! That's why I left the GOP and am now officially registered as "no party." And I know, I saw some GOP senator interviewed and he was like, "Damn Chinamen! We paid them to create a virus to kill billions and they can't even get that right."

    No words...

Why are they demanding a body count to justify the closure of the economy? Especially given the fact that these are the deaths caused in spite of shutting things down (meaning that the numbers would have been much higher if the transmission was allowed to go unimpeded).

OMG, just found this. Why is the orange man pushing our fine corporations to make ventilators? This is horrible. Why is the FEDERAL government providing ventilators to our hospitals? What HORRID side effects!

    https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/04/02/826105278/ventilators-are-no-panacea-for-critically-ill-covid-19-patients

"Most coronavirus patients who end up on ventilators go on to die, according to several small studies from the U.S., China and Europe.
And many of the patients who continue to live can't be taken off the mechanical breathing machines."

Anything more recent than 2 1/2 weeks ago concerning effectiveness of vents?

That is an assumption....give me some verifiable data. Not much difference than anecdotal evidence that certain drugs work against COVID.

    Not an assumption.

It is shown in the data, specifically in the rate of increase of deaths new cases before vs after social distancing began.

It has also worked for past epidemics (like Spanish Flu).

And besides all of that, it really is basic science. COVID is a communicable disease, which means humans pass it to other humans. Thus, if you only see 3 people and those 3 people only see you, if one of the 4 get it - they could only spread it to the other 3 and they can’t spread it further. If, on the other hand, you got the disease and didn’t practice social distancing, you could give it to countless other people, and they the same, at infinitum. The more people that get this disease, the more that die.

All of this is science and statistics.

No, it is really not. That is what you fail to see. So social distancing worked in 1918? By the time many people received word of the pandemic in 1918 it was probably already over....Much like this pandemic that is already on the decline after 4 weeks. Many of the social distancing measures have not been in place long enough to make much impact.

He is doing more than championing them. He is adding them to the federal stockpile and releasing them as they are requested. Anecdotal evidence would be good enough for me, if I was dying, to give this stuff a shot (or anything else they had the same kind of evidence for).

And remember, we don't produce much of this stuff in the USA these days (when India heard the malaria drug might be effective, they immediately stated they would not ship any of it to anywhere else), so I have no problem with him getting out ahead of the issue and getting his hands on as much of this stuff as he can.

I highly doubt he came up with this stuff himself. Some medical professional gave him this information, and all he did was share it and stockpile what he could get his hands on.

How this became political I will never understand. We have no vaccine and we have no scientific PROVEN therapy. If I am on death's door, I don't want some idiot telling me I can't try something that has anecdotal evidence of being effective, but if I am still suffocating in 18 months when the scientific studies are done they might be able to help me.
