No, I saw your comments. They seem to imply that you think the education system is not serving the black community as it should. Glad we agree.
Can't comment on the black students at your school, but I can tell you that my classes at a school with similar demographics in Alexandria were still very segregated in the honors classes. Not by law, but by practice. Why? I don't know. I've read here about a million times that it's not because I'm very smart. It's probably because my parents knew how to get me in the right classes early.
My kids are in a magnet school in Shreveport. It's a great school. Some of the top test scores in the state, diverse student population, 100% PTA membership and all that. The hoops you have to jump through to get your kids in is pretty staggering. I think that's the push back of some on the left to vouchers and school choice. There are students who will be penalized because their parents either aren't equipped or aren't able to work the system to get their kids in the higher performing schools. These are the residual effects of poor education systems that have disproportionately hurt the black community.
