Listening to Tom Petty some lately. This playlist has the big hits plus some deeper cuts and covers.
Switchfoot cover of Vampire Weekend. Kind of misses out on those Danielle Haim back ground vocals, but still not bad. More of "live" sound than the original (which I think has quite a bit of production - which really works).
As I read Lonesome Dove, I've found this album to make a nice background choice.
Not sure I'll get to watch it (I have a meeting this evening) but Jars of Clay are partying like it's 1997 tonight and playing the entirety of their second album Much Afraid tonight on the facebooks. Probably would have been my 3rd or 4th choice* of an album for them to live-stream but. . . if I can get to it, I'll take it.
*1. eponymous
2. Who We Are Instead
3. Inland/Much Afraid
4. If I Left the Zoo

Listening to a group of Irish women cover The Cranberries' Dreams had me bring MB up.
She's the One soundtrack a little under-rated (here and just in general). Contains two of my favorite Petty songs (Walls and Changed the Locks).
Shake Your Money Maker too low (unless we're factoring how much input Rubin actually had, if we're weighing all albums equally, it's way too low).
By the same token, if we're not factoring how much or little he contributed, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road is too low. It's at least top ten.
