I admit I am not completely familiar with all of Trump's China policy, but I would say Trump has been much tougher on China (rightfully so) than Biden will ever be, or Obama ever was. I think the tariff's were a good idea, leveled the playing field a bit. I am surprised that 90% of our antibiotics and other "critical medical supples" are manufactured in China. I did not know this until the Covid stuff started. We need to get much of that type of production back in U.S. Trump kicking China out due to spying seems like a very good thing.. Apparently the consulate in Houston was the worst kept secret in D.C. with regards to its spying activities.

    We are paying the tariffs.

If the Chicoms are smart, they will now keep a low profile...while tinkering hither and tither in elections of the western powers...and support Biden with money and hacking and all such matters as that, but don't push it. They will have the world on a plate with a Biden win. Of course, their worst nightmare may just be a lame duck president with a bone to pick with 'em….

I'm not the president and I don't intend to run for office. As a citizen, I can point out that what Trump said he was going to do with China is not what he's done.

Ultimately, I think the problem is too complicated to be solved with bluster and, as a free trade guy, tariffs just punish Americans. I think a free economy depends on an educated consumer base. I think we should invest in US manufacturing and technology. I don't know the best way to do that, but I think there are a lot of folks who will buy American when they can...or buy from a friendlier foreign power. It's a long term fight.

Keep telling yourself that. I'm sure McCain's no vote had NOTHING to do with Trump having no replacement when he called for repeal. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Trump's stupid attacks on him. A draft dodger talking trash to a POW. That's your guy!

McCain's vote on the repeal of Obamacare was based on nothing other than his pure jealous hatred of President Trump. He died a jealous, bitter man. One that put self before country in the end. He's no hero in my mind. In the end, he showed that he was just like the rest of the DC establishment. He was nothing more than a self serving, over the hill politician that was in it for himself.

Poor leadership from Trump was the cause.

Is the objective to be tougher on China or get results?

Being tougher appeals to red meat populism, but if it doesn’t get results, it won’t appeal to the pragmatists.

So far the strategy has only appealed to those looking to dine on steak.

Do you agree with Biden that the Chinese are "just a good bunch of guys"?

Why do you use quotes for something that isn’t actually a quote?

I think China has their own interests and they will pursue them regardless of what we do. Just like us.

If you want a deal with China, they have to get something they don’t already have out of it.

Ok.. I was paraphrasing.. but it was basically what is in quotes.. I think the exact quote was “I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks."

Compared to Trump and the dictators he worships, I think that is a fair comment.
