That debt is old news, and why the stock has underperformed (and has a high dividend yield). They spent 85 billion to buy Time Warner and took on their debt and spent about 50 billion buying DirectTV.
Unlike Netflix, AT&T has positive earnings.
My point was, that the horrible service won't help them overcome. I do see a trend of customer service not being important. Survey after survey asks about it, but things get worse. I can't imagine all these surveys not making a difference.
I hold AT&T stock in one of my portfolios. It has performed well over the years. Guess I need to take a harder look at it. I also hold Verizon stock. It's part of my strategy of not trying to pick a winner, I just bet on both competitors.
VZ is way more of a telecom pure play than T. TMUS has been the winner as of late.
Time Warner had a horrible balance sheet when T acquired them. The AOL deal that Time Warner did a couple of decades ago ended up being quite costly.
I was following T-Mobile back in the early 2000's, then watched it crash from about 2007 to 2012, when it hit rock bottom. At that time it looked like they would be swamped by competitors. But, they recovered nicely. I dropped them from my watch-list and never went back to check on their status. That's on me. But, unless you "play the market" for a living or can devote a lot of time to it, then you're probably like me, a retail investor who misses opportunities like TMUS presented in June, 2012.

Toobin didn't know that Zoom was two-way? I would say he's a moron, but actually he's just another of the stupid libtards who think they know it all, when they know nothing. Heck, one of my granddaughters was Skyping when she was just 3...she was smarter than Toobin even back then. Now, at 11, she's forgotten more than Toobin will ever know. Which is why he meets the criteria to be on CNN. The least informed people on the planet are those who depend on CNN (and MSNBC too).
I won't dignify what he was doing by mentioning it...
They think they can get by with anything and any sort of perversion. And they have caused huge harm on the American culture and society.
