They were burning off fuel 2 weeks ago. Way before this weather was forecasted.
From the people in Texas that are in charge of this fiasco:

Wind turbines are the LEAST significant factor in our outages.
Spot electricity prices hit $9k per megawatt hour in Texas. Our independent deregulated market is going to leave people hurting without power and with power.
You are out of your mind.
Now I can see Fed. or State regs or even human error (Dems) causing issues but never the actual clean burning molecules of natural “burner-tip” gas. But solar and wind are long term wastes of money. All forms of energy are fine with me, including nuclear, but our tax dollars paying for solar and wind energy to combat the BS politics of “global warming” is a travesty.
Gas pipelines froze. Instrumentation and water lines at gas and nuclear pants froze.
People run windmills in the North in freezing conditions. They put heaters on them.
Our electricity infrastructure is not winterized in Texas. One of the main reasons is that happened is because of our ridiculous deregulation strategy that put us on our own grid with utility providers that only compete on price and not reliability.
Way off target.
Texas owns the power grid but still has to follow federal laws written by politicos/lawyers. The windmills are also made from fossil fuels, transported to their site with fossil fuels, have to be maintained by fossil fuels.
And 10% of Texas energy from windmill was shut down by the ice per the Governor this week.
You are wrong, very wrong about Texas following federal laws for their power grid. That was the whole point in setting up an independent one - to avoid the regulations of the Federal Power Act by not shipping power across state lines (triggering commerce clause federal authority). It was a stupid, but very Texan idea.
Those windmills wouldn’t have stopped if they were equipped with heaters like they are in the north. That would have been cheaper than winterizing the natural gas pipelines, btw.
Why weren’t these systems winterized? How about you elaborate on that point.
We have learned that our scuzzbucket Senator left the state for Cancun to avoid dealing with the fiasco that his electorate were dealing with. Another example of Trump-style leadership that has spread in the Republican ranks.
😂🤣
And the heaters would have been operating on fossil fuel. Just admit you’re wrong and go quietly to another forum. You’ve been “Culture cancelled”. Besides Texas will get to the bottom of this and the leftist loo it’s in DC will be exposed. So many ERCOT board members aren’t even from Texas. 🤪
To quote our great Kdaniel1972:
“You burn more fossil fuels in the long term with wind and solar than you would by just using fossil fuels. So why again are you bashing Texas and what state do you live in?
Go watch Planet of The Humans please.”
