Didn't say it couldn't kill you.

The armed services use a selective fire version of the rifle, which means it is capable of firing more than one round with one pull of the trigger. The caliber is used because it is lighter than the 30-06 or 7.62x54 used previously. They don't use that round because it is more effective at killing.

Heck, the military uses 9mm pistols and knives as well. I guess those are fair game, too. The armed services argument is just plain STUPID.

You were the one calling their ammo sissy (reference to 22 caliber).

Good heavens, man. Go back and re-read my post.

I was comparing it to 30-06 and a 12 gauge shotgun, which are both HIGHLY lethal (way more than the 22 caliber). Wanna argue that?

Nuance and general concepts are lost on you, aren't they?

Lemme make it easy. Gov wants to ban 22 caliber gun because it is black and evil. 12 gauge and 30.06 are just fine sporting firearms. 12 gauge and 30.06 are much more deadly than 223 black gun. Gov is STUPID and makes laws that do nothing they claim to want to do.

Depends what shot in the 12 gauge and what distance. 30-06 is great at range, but within 25 yards at a moving human target? There is an argument that a round that allows you to put faster follow up shots on targets would be better.

And you distinguish selective fire, which somehow makes the army’s rifle so much more lethal than the civilian version while downplaying a bump stock. Talk about someone that is confused about general concepts...

    LOL.

For typical targets in a gun free zone:

The 12 gauge for anything inside of 25 yards (you mentioned the 25 yards).

22lr (the rimfire stuff) has a range as far as a nervous shooter picking off unarmed targets would need. No mention of banning those either. You can get one of those for about $160 bucks at any store.

This focus on the AR platform is just demagoguery.

You can bumpfire a semi-auto rifle without a bumpfire stock. What you cannot do is AIM. Taking away that product did not stop you from being able to bumpfire a firearm.

And it didn't make the gun more lethal....it made it a different gun.

If you knew what you were talking about, you wouldn't find me confused at all.

I see black gun ownership is up over 60%.

If you attack gun ownership, you are RACIST.

See, I can argue like a dem.

But not a 12 gauge with birdshot, right?

And the AR platform can also support many cartridges, even .458 SOCOM.

You are dancing around focusing on various aspects, but the AR-15 is a popular choice for mass shootings for a reason.

A bumpstock makes an semi-auto very easy to bump fire. Good luck bump firing an AR-15 without one in anything other than a highly controlled setting - like set up on a bench at a range.

But not an AR-15 with blanks, right? Think about that answer and consider your point about bird shot and let me know just exactly what your point was. Do you think we should outlaw everything but bird shot? Wonder how the skeet and trap folks feel about that.

I am not dancing....you are just quoting statistics that mean nothing. There is no reason, as far as lethality is concerned, to use an AR platform in a mass shooting. NONE. The platform is tremendously popular with Americans of all types, and it's people like you that have focused on the rifle that has probably convinced the idiot doing the mass shooting that it is the proper tool.

In the 1970s most folks went out and bought a pet rock. There was no reason for that either except to be a lemming.

    Re: President Biden

Americans have already made too many concessions against our 2nd Amendment rights. It never restricted citizens from owning the very latest and best weapons, and it's bullshit UNCONSITUTIONAL to ban machineguns and other type firearms. When the 2nd Amendment and the Constitution was ratified by the Founding Fathers, the average farmer owned a weapon superior to what the standing army was issued.

No more concessions, none! Nada! Zilch!

BTW, there a bunch of videos on YouTube with "experts" recommending what type firearms work best for self-defense and home defense. I don't recall the AR-15 being mentioned much...or at all. But, in the interest of getting to the "real truth" I will watch some more of those videos.
