There has never been a time in our history when workers were encouraged to stay home rather than accept decent and good paying jobs. That's what's happening. The $15/hour thing actually hurts food service workers. They can make more at the current minimum wage.
Not sure I see the connection between big guvmint give-away programs, designed to create a population of dependents, and business financials where market forces drive the components of capital...like labor. Funny how this was NOT an issue until the introduction of the China virus crisis and the federal guvmint intervening in the market (capitalism). Anytime big guvmint involves itself in something, it gets messed up.

Of course, all those illegals swarming across the border will gladly take those jobs....oh, wait, they are getting guvmint checks too. Will have to stop those as well.
Only 266K jobs created in April when all the metrics pointed to it being 1 million jobs. That should tell everyone, enough is enough with the inflated benefits. As for legit factors affecting wages, that can be saved for another discussion at another time, as it plays no role in this current mess.

In some cases, but it isn’t better than wages that are some level higher. That is the point. Pay workers more and you will see them back at work.
Not true. They are not going back to work for more. More money ($15 - $20 per hour) is being offered in many entry level jobs that don't require any type degree (including high school or GED). Thanks to the last stimulus package they are making more to stay home.
FWIW, if a guy (Biden voter) will sit on his/her ass to draw unemployment they will not show up on time and think 40 hours per week is too much.
Years , I mean years, ago I was an avid fan of Paul (rest of the story) Harvey. I remember him saying that a survey had been made about hiring government workers. If the federal and state governments would pay better, then they would get a better class of employees. After several years another survey showed that the "class of employees" did not improve but the feds and state governments just spent more money. As Justin Wilson said "If I hurt some ones feelings, well I don't give a DAMN." Its the truth, more so today than back then.. (In 1945 I delivered telegrams for Western Union for $0.25 per hour.)
