Also have a family friend who was admitted to Vanderbilt Medical suffering massive complications from the first round of the vaccine. If you talk to people on the ground, the evidence about this virus and the vaccines is far from conclusive. Results and issues are all over the map.
Or the zeta , eta, theta variants???
Yeah, that was quite a stretch!
That said, if you are 65 or older or have some of the preexisting conditions that make covid much worse...AND you have not already had the virus....makes perfect sense to get the vaccine.
I wouldn't trust it if I were a woman and pregnant or trying to become pregnant, either.

The overwhelming vast majority of our positives in the parish the past 90 days have been between the ages of 19 - 40 unvaccinated individuals who have shown mild to no symptoms - no hospitalizations have been required amongst this group -
However, the hospitalizations are occurring amongst the 55 to 75 year old population who share the same household or have close prolonged contact of these unvaccinated 19-40 year olds who test positive with little to no symptoms
And the demographic make-up is running about 75/25 in the older group -
We are expecting rising numbers in the parish for the next 3 to 4 weeks due to July 4th activities and such...

Actual parish numbers through the state's portals -
Our coroner and our CEO at the Parish Med Center gives us weekly updates - and my wife is a deputy coroner and an NP who practices in the Parish
Remember Claiborne Parish has a population of around 17,000 give or take a few hundred
Very communal and rural
Same folks see the same folks and interact with the same folk vast amount of the time especially in the 55 to 75 year old segment

And we had our 18 year old vaccinated who is a very active athlete - 4 year letter & 2 yr starting qb at Haynesville High, 5 yr starter in baseball and swim team - and who has an underlying heart condition at the advice of his pediatric cardiologist (who many consider the top state and and one of the top ones in the mid-south region) - because he was more concerned about what the virus would do than what the shots may or may not do...

I talked to a friend this morning (age 74 and healthy) who had the shots early this year. He got the virus a few weeks ago. He said it was a "mild case", but did test positive and was sick.
