The NRMC has some beds available in our ICU. Don't know how many, but we are not at 100% occupancy...yet. Also, several patients initially admitted into the ICU, with the China virus, Var: Delta, have been treated and released.
My sister called me last night and reported my nephew, Michael, has tested positive for the Delta variant, but that he is doing "okay" thus far. He is a strong, healthy, strapping fellow of 27 yrs old, and should handle it well.
Hearing that St Francis has mandated all employees take the shot by some date in October or face termination. Agree or disagree with the vaccine, these mandates will result in a serious fall off in quality of care. Many experienced people will quit and our healthcare system will be full of new graduates who don’t know what the heck they are doing.

I think we are so misguided paying attention to people who are in the back pockets of lobbiests, government agencies, and administrations. We should be listening a lot more to people who have little if anything to gain and everything to lose. They aren’t pushing for a higher government position or to write a book. Just treating people and going home every day knowing they did what was right.

He stated that he has successfully treated 15 whole Covid + patients with Ivermectin, zinc and Vitamin D. In a virus where 98% of the people recover, you could treat them with Tylenol, cat piss and peanut butter and likely get the same result.
I agree 100%. It's hard enough to get nurses to work at the bedside due to all of the silly crap they have to do to make the hospital a buck. This will just make it that much worse.
This variant has not made patients as acutely ill as the one that circulated last year, but it is more contagious. I think the reason for that (acutely ill) is just what you stated, most of the people coming in are younger and in fair to good health which tend to do better no matter what the illness is. Most ER's are completely inundated with Covid patients that are standard to telemetry levels of care, and hospitals are holding their ICU beds in reserve for those inpatients that crash.
