Again, there are treatments available - you have to find the right doctor.
Friend of ours got it. Early 30’s. He refused to get any treatment and elected to stay home and ride it out. His mom is a nurse who has seen early intervention work and he still thought he was tough enough to just get over it. It’s been a couple of months and he still isn’t back to form physically. Early treatment is key and these new variants appear to replicate faster. Original virus might make you worse in 5-7 days. Newer strains are making people sicker much faster. ACT EARLY!

On day 8, I knew I was trouble. Found a doctor that treated me with steroids, antibiotics (to reduce inflammation), inhaler. That was a thursday. I have seen friends get ivermectin right off the bat and do great. I have seen friends get the plasma right off the bat and do great. I am no medical expert but I truly believe our health care system is behing handcuffed.

Treat early and aggressively. If you are high risk, stay at home.

I did get the phizer vaccine because I still travel and know that I will need a vaccine passport. I go in every 90 days for antibody testing. My last antibody test before vaccine was 182 positive. That is 10 months after getting sick.

It took me 6 weeks to fully recover and get my strength and energy back. I am still playing catch up at work....unreal.

If you get sick, don’t wait. Find a doctor that will treat you ASAP. Don’t make the same mistake I did and think that you will shake it off.
Our healthcare system isn’t being handcuffed as much as it’s woefully understaffed. Dangerously understaffed. You can’t possibly prepare for an increase in volume of this magnitude. In 23 years I have never seen the amount of holdovers waiting for a bed in ERs for this length of time. If something isn’t done soon, the system will be completely overwhelmed to the point of collapse. That is not something I heard from someone, that’s something I’m telling you is absolute truth.

some local hospitals are just reaping what they have sown. Understaffed because they either can’t or refuse to pay market value for good employees. My wife has worked as an RN for 16 years. She and her coworkers just for their first significant pay bump in over a decade. She is now making essentially the starting salary of nurses in surrounding states. If we were totally dependent on her income to sustain our standard of living, we would not be in Louisiana. This may not be the issue in other parts of the country, but it is a major factor here.

It’s a multifaceted problem and that’s part of it. Whenever Louisiana became a compact state a couple years ago, it made it much easier for nurses to cross state lines and go to work without the hassle of applying for a license. Then Covid hit last year, and a lot of them left going on travel assignments making insane amounts of money. 7-8 k per week in some places that was hardest hit. A lot of them never came back, or made enough money to stay at home and ride this out.

Great post and information. Seems like a big fail by the medical community to me. So many doctors are afraid of their shadow and will not treat COVID aggressively in the early stages, probably causing a lot of folks to end up at the hospital that didn't need to be.

Absolutely right. When you get a sinus infection, you leave when a script so you can get better. We have tons of meds that are effective for off label uses. This is no different. As soon as something appears to work, proclaim it from the rooftops, especially if it is inexpensive.

COVID is not an off label use of Regeneron. It was designed for COVID. The trick is you have to actually go to the hospital as soon as you have COVID symptoms for it to be most effective.

Right, but what I am referring to is the cocktail that doctors like Ralph Abraham are giving. He is having great results with his patients who take the specific cocktail he and others locally are prescribing. Safe inexpensive meds.

Natchitoches hospital has hit capacity in its ICU due to Delta China Virus patients. But...according to the stats and using the same model the world is using (I can't recall the name) it is very likely that Louisiana, and thus probably the country, has reached the apex of the Delta spread. Read a report predicting end of September for a much brighter outlook. I sure hope so, and I am sure you do too.

Other countries with much higher vax rates also had spikes. They lasted about 3 weeks. That would be about right for our spike to end in Sept. We have been told that Ouachita Parish is at capacity. However, several people I know who work in various hospitals have said they have over 800 beds and less than 150 Covid patients.

Our governor and his lemmings are trying to keep control. Masking is all about showing control. Masking is not the best mitigation as we are being told.

Vaccinating is better, but there is no doubt that masking helps.

    Helps what?

Here we are again. Masking mandates without uniform rules for wearing them is what we've got. Noses sticking out don't prevent the spread. Filthy masks only add to potential illness for those wearing the masks.

What you, John Bel, and Faucci want is control. You wear one while working out? If so that is insanity.

Masking helps slow the transmission. Reduces the number of people that will sick, the number of people that will be hospitalized, and the number of people that will die.

you don't know that (I suppose "studies show") but it is a solid narrative.

Masking in general without stipulations does not work.

You wear one while working out?
