All we'll do is watch from the bleachers as other schools hire coaches in an effort to elevate their programs. In fact, we'll get to sit next to Skippy as he will also be sitting in those bleachers watching other schools firing/hiring as he knows full well he is 100% safe here. And that none of those proactive schools want a loser like him.
Skip has one of the best coaching gigs in the country. Good pay compared to cost of living, no pressure to win, and dumbasses for bosses. Dudes getting a pay raise for this crap![]()
What is going to be embarrassing is when SHSU, Jacksonville, NMSU, and other newbies we pulled in to conference come to town and whip our a$$.
I have gotten to the point that I have not been wearing my Tech gear or talking football at all. I am not embarrassed by our university, but at the lack of action our leadership has taken with our FB coach, gamedays, and letting Judy Jeep remain commissioner unopposed. I really hate to tell people why we are standing idly by and watch our program go backwards.
From what I can tell Guice is a very very nice guy.
The problem with being the “nice” guy is sometimes you work in positions where you have to have very difficult conversations, and nice people in my experience often downplay problems and ignore those difficult conversations in order to maintain their niceness.
The goods we were sold on this board was that Guice “gets it”. Remember everyone parading that line around? Finally a president that gets it?
Well now it’s time to prove what he’s got, because so far it’s not much.
Just so I get this straight. We should have fired Holtz after the Miami win when we finished 10-3? And our offense was awful? We were 35th in total offense per game and 35th in points per game, and that was with J'Mar missing 2 games. We averaged 45 points per game at home that season, which was 9th best in the country. What kind of revisionist history is this?
Yes, the last two seasons have fallen off sharply, but saying he should have been fired in 2019 is borderline nuts. And the fact that no one on this board even pushed back on this is even sadder.
Some dont like to admit it, but this is the first fire worthy season Holtz has truly had. Theyve just wanted him gone. Last year was pretty bad, but we were plagued with covid schedule changes, a few opt outs, and injuries. This year is straight up bad, and it had no real reason to be. Every game since bye week has been an inexcusable performance. 2-1 would have been fine if we at least played with a pulse in those games, but we sucked in all three.
Well our home schedule consisted of weak teams with shitty defenses. Now that doesn’t mean the current team isn’t facing bad teams either, but probably 100 teams in FBS would have averaged that or better against that slate.
Grambling- 6-5 and ulm beat them worse than we did
FIU- 6-7 and also beat Miami in Miami and scored 30 on them
S.Miss- 7-6
UMass- 1-11
UNT- 4-8
UTSA- 4-8
If you want to go back and look there were some people fed up with Skip and J’Mar back then regardless of that individual season. People also were talking about if J’Mar was the best we had the cupboard must have been bare behind him.
You may not have felt that way then or now, but some people were actually done with him and wanted him gone then. Knowing that Tech would never fire him after that season.
