A billboard or two in south AR wouldn’t hurt.

Gotta look at online ads. And more television ads.

Just noticed the new Belch has no school in Florida and only Texas State in Texas. Don't think TSU has too much influence on Texas recruits, so in essence, the Belch lacks a presence in 2 of the 5 best high school football states. There has been a little, probably very little, rumblings of Texas State jumping to CUSA. Geographically it would make more sense for them. I am sure they want to see if the new CUSA actually survives and looks like it will continue for the foreseeable future. But doing so would leave the Belch completely out of both Texas and Florida.

    Just an observation.

Sam Houston State loses at home 42-19 to Montana State in the FCS quarterfinals. ESPN probably thankful because Sam Houston desperately needs to upgrade the quality of its lighting which is why the game was only on ESPN+.

That will be SHSU's last FCS playoff game since it won't be eligible once it files the paperwork to start its FBS transition.

Marshall should have taken care if ULL. They just aren’t that good and Marshall had them on the ropes if they just held on to the dang ball.

    Marshall’s QB was atrocious.

The Army game was scheduled for Dallas before the Boy Wonder was announced as Tech's AD.

CUSA has finished its bowl season. The league was 3-1, with only UTEP coming up short.

    Re: Serious Conference Realignment Discussion

The biggest surprise in this conference rearrangement is USM is going to pay $3 million to C-USA to leave and join a lesser conference that will make it more difficult for them to recruit. I read an article about a year ago that said USM's recruiting had gone down because they used to recruit a lot of players out of Mobile and south Alabama.

So, what does USM do? They join the Belt where they make USA more relevant in that area. That article was written by a USM fan. They can't beat out Tulane, LSU, UL-L, or Tech recruiting south La. Tech has even signed some good players out of Mississippi including a DT less than a hundred miles from their campus that turned out to be a first round draft choice.

USM and the Belt also have no connection to the 2 largest states that produce a a lot of recruits, Texas and Florida. Texas State is the only Belt school in Texas and there are no Belt schools in Florida. So, does anybody know why they're joining the belt other than just continued poor leadership from their President and AD that they've shown for the last 10 years. It baffles me, they don't even save money on travel. Most of the teams in the Belt now are on the east coast which increases their travel.

Well, it didn't happen in a vacuum, right? I think the logic is that they weren't leaving CUSA as it is today, they were leaving CUSA minus 6 current teams. So the new CUSA really didn't (before SHSU) have any more Texas presence than the SB. Even now it's UTEP/SHSU vs. Texas St. I mean, either way you're playing there fairly often but not exactly going to be the talk of the state.

And if they want to recruit southern Alabama, they're joining a conference that will have them playing there every year (most likely, depending on how they structure the Troy/USA split - on average every year even if it's not actually once per year).

And they will save on travel because they'll have two divisions, so they'll play mostly games in Alabama/Louisiana/Arkansas/Texas with just a game or two every other year on the East coast, and some of those will be in Georgia, which isn't so bad for them.

You've got to compare the Belt they joined to the CUSA they would have been left with - it isn't current CUSA vs. current SB. And not even that really, because if they stay (and Marshall and ODU) then we probably don't add all of LU/NMSU/SHSU/JSU - but we'd still probably add someone or some combination. And who knows how that turns out for them. They don't want to play NMSU at all, what if they got stuck playing them every year?

C-USA had 8 teams when USM left and the good thing is that 3 of those teams that got picked by the AAC were bad, so that means we just unloaded some dead weight. We pick up New Mexico state and SHSU and that's it. Is it worth $3,000,000 to join the Belt. I would be pissed if Tech blew $3,000,000 to join the Belt.
