I heard the Madera stock jumped 11 points with the announcement of their 4th shot.
That would be a vaccine. Get "vaxxed" (notice the double x thing) four times in 12 months, but you can still get the China virus just as you could catch a covid cold before the China virus outbreak of 2020.
Really not that different from a flu vaccine. “Shot” is just how it is administered.

Excuse me. At one point it was up 11. Finished up 8.6 after their announcement. After being down almost 15% over the last month because we learned the shots don’t work.
Pure ignorance. The whole Nasdaq 100 index, of which MRNA is included is DOWN over 20% in the past several months. Nearly every tech stock has enjoyed a nice oversize bounce this week. Most are up well more than MRNA. It is caught up in the some momentum volatility as other growth stocks right now. The market buys on the rumors (expectations) and sells on news (the occurrence of the event). Covid vaccine shorter durability has been understood by the market for awhile now.
Flu vaccines only have 6 month durability, and can be defeated if they vaccine is designed for the wrong variant. Btw, not all flu vaccines are shots. You can also get the vaccine by nasal mist.
For context, MRNA was trading nearly $500/share in August and its low this week was close to $125/share (around a 70% drop in price). That was dirt cheap on a P/E basis relative to the market as a whole. And MRNA has better growth prospects.
According to Techman05 logic, MRNA should be trading higher now that we know a 4th shot might be approved than in August when we didn’t. That just isn’t how it works.
Moderna MRNA shares soared 8.6% in the last trading session to close at $150.07. The move was backed by solid volume with far more shares changing hands than in a normal session. This compares to the stock's 14.3% loss over the past four weeks.
This was from 3 days ago. I’m not saying the stock is up overall, but it bounced when they announced another booster. That’s all I’m saying.
All technology growth stocks had big moves Tuesday. It isn’t MRNA specific.
What we refer to as the "annual flu shot" is a cocktail, a mixture designed to account for the anticipated influenza virus strains expected to be out there. It's someone's best guess.
I contracted the "Congo Flu" when in Europe some years back. My doctor said that particularly variant is very rare, especially in the US, so it would never be accounted for in the cocktail.
