I like DeSantis too. But, Trump will ravage him in the primaries. Attack him without mercy and drive a wedge between groups of Conservative supporters/voters. It is a shame that Trump is so bombastic, but he is who he is and he won't back down nor compromise. I have TRIED to explain my position on Trump and have probably fallen short on expressing it clearly. I will try again...

Trump is like that vicious guard dog that was trained to attack without mercy and will never change. You just have to understand that and use it to your advantage. Otherwise, you will just end up with a very bad bite yourself.

So, that means we true Patriots who love America and actually care about the free world have to use Trump to whip the commie bastards, foreign and domestic. MAGA! To that end, I would like to see DeSantis serve as VP under Trump, then run for the WH himself, giving us 12 years of good American leadership. Or, DeSantis just stay out of the way and continue to move Florida forward, while serving as a guide for other Conservative governors. Then when Trump cannot run for re-election, DeSantis can step up.

Also, we need to sweep more RINOs out of DC, get a strong hold on Congress, which will work with Trump to accomplish great things. Trump accomplished so much in 4 years even while battling commie bastards and self-serving swampers, from both sides of the isle. Imagine what he can do with a more cooperative Congress.

I don't have to like Trump, personally, to recognize his strengths and to acknowledge we need him in charge...now!

My fear is electability in the general election. People couldn't bring themselves to vote for the republican in both 2007 and 2011, partially because of the unpopular, to some, candidates. That's my fear. Now, if Biden or Harris is the nominee, then you can use the yellow dog analogy.

America first can be fine as long as it means we put our interest first and does not mean, among several other negative attributes, we’re being isolationist or doing things that screw our friends so screw us.

And this is exactly what Trump did. He was a great peacekeeper and wanted a level playing field for Americans to flourish.

If they had tarriffs on our goods it only made sense to put tarriffs on theirs.

It makes no sense to hamper domestic production of goods with high taxes and stupid climate change initiatives when your competitors are not so hampered. Coal burned in China and India causes as much greenhouse gas to be emitted as coal burned in the US, so why let them have cheap energy and take a competitive advantage?

He talked frankly with the European members of NATO about funding NATO and beefing up their military. Gosh, how mean! Had they taken his comments to heart and done as they were supposed to be doing, I just bet Russia would not be in Ukraine right now.

I don't want to hang out with the guy (though I hear he is a great guy outside of work). I just want someone that has America's back.

I understand why some Conservatives are leery of Trump carrying the banner in the general election. He is a polarizing figure. But, keep in mind, the Dems had to steal the 2020 election...Trump actually won...and now thanks to Sleepy Joe the independents and moderate Dems have had enough of the failing Dem Party. Many will hold their nose and vote for Trump, which they know is a vote for America.

I agree Trump should tone down the rhetoric, act more "presidential" and come across as more "understanding" and open-armed. Many in the middle need to be stroked and reassured. If he did, he would win in a landslide. But, as we all know...that ain't him! We'll just have to win with our "vicious guard dog" out front.

Bear in mind, not all Trump voters are MAGA. All conservative votes are needed as well as independents and disgruntled dems.

That is true. Even ultra-conservative folks I know...they despise Biden and the Dems and everything those evil, America-haters stand for...are glad Trump is out of office and will not support his 2024 campaign efforts.

I am ultra-conservative, and would support the orange man if he is nominated, but I would rather see someone like DeSantis run because of electability. There are tons of folks like me. Trump is his own worse enemy at times. I wish he wasn't such a narcissist, but the fact remains, and will always be, that he is in spades. I am not like those with orange tinted glasses. He was the right man at the right time, but times have changed. Biden and his ilk suck so bad that it would be a travesty to lose in 2024 because of people staying home and not voting. I guarantee you the yellow dog democrats will be out to vote their yellow dog into office.

The age factor will play against Trump as well. We all see what an old man (of which I am one of the geezers - - only three months younger that Trump) in the highest office in the land has done. Trump will be 78 if elected. The dumbocraps will be out doing a tit-for-tat about age since repubs did it to Biden, and did it rightfully so.

Just something to think about.
