I just don’t agree with anything in Washington. All the manipulation that is required just to stay there. I have forfeited business when a potential client tried to manipulate me. We haven’t missed a bill or meal yet. It all just makes me sick.

Well, seems to me it was VERY DC-like, they just used the tactic against the Swamp this time. Regardless the only thing that matters now is getting positive results. We shall see if the "20" moved McCarthy and his inner circle toward true conservatism or if conservatism-light will still prevail.
Have to explain everything to some people...
Not referring to the election of the speaker, was talking about the TACTICS! Politics as usual. Will probably see this again when a bill, supported by McCarthy but not by the "20" comes up for a vote. Just watch. It's just old-fashioned DC politics. But, when employed by the right folks, it's okay.![]()
Word is the new rules for the House, which was part of the concessions McCarthy made to the "20," will not pass. The 212 Demwits will vote against it, of course, and apparently a few RINOs will join them, enough to kill it. I am not surprised. The Demwits stick together and vote for socialist policies in lock step. And as I have said, the GOP is a circus. And no, I did not have this information when I posted #65. It is just so obvious...painfully obvious.
The solution? Primary out the RINOs. That is the only recourse open to we conservatives. Yeah, RINOs are frustrating but still better than allowing Pelosi to have the gavel.
Oh, BTW, naturally I HOPE that information is wrong and enough Repubs will vote to pass the new House rules. It might be a sliver of hope, but there it is. To be clear, the "20" will all vote for the new rules, of course, but there are RINOs who stand to benefit from the current rules staying in place. They will vote their personal interests (monetary gain) over the good of the nation. The "20" used those tactics to get promises from McCarthy, and now others will use the same old politics to thwart it all.
Word is that RINOs were complaining to McCarthy all weekend about the rules package, and he is telling them to suck it up and vote for it anyway. If so and the package passes, then the strategy of the "20" was executed perfectly and the vote to allow McCarthy to become Speaker occurred at the perfect time.
Rules package passes 220-213. Only one Republican "Nay" vote with one not voting. That was Gonzales as expected. Nancy Mace did not vote "nay" despite all of her hot air.
Looks like there was some "sucking it up" as compared to the hot air expelled over the weekend.
Hothead GOP Rep. Rogers decided not to step down from the Steering Committee after all. He shouldn't have been given that choice after nearly starting a brawl on the House floor Friday night.

GOP Rep. Crenshaw loses in his bid to be chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. Helps to be able to recognize what a real terrorist is before being given power. Also helps not to expose fists that were evidently bloodied in frustration during the Speakership voting.

When he was a little boy Crenshaw wanted to grow up to be a pirate, errrrrr....
Glad the new rules package passed.
McCarthy removes Schiff, Salwell, and Omar from committees. This is one of the reasons I have been okay with him being Speaker. He's been saying, for at least 6 months prior to the mid-terms, what he would do when he was Speaker. Yeah, the "20" have probably made him an even better Speaker, but I knew he was going to be good just from seeing him on FOX. The "20" and other staunch conservatives railed against him and supported Jim Jordan as Speaker. Yet, McCarthy and Jordan appeared together on various FOX shows for months, a year even! sitting side by side and saying the same things.
Hammer 'em!
