Waits has become a running joke between us, with me threatening to tell people she wants Closing Time on vinyl instead of Taylor's Version of whatever record she actually wants and her making a playlist called "Wait Lifting" of his music. As often happens with these ironic things, I do think we're both inadvertently becoming bigger fans and (maybe) acquiring the (necessary) taste for his voice. We'll see.
Roughly 20 years ago this one was literally true of me (well, since that was also roughly 40 lbs ago, maybe "Tall in Japan" would have been more accurate).

I assume its presence when Bob Wills or George Strait is singing. I assume its absence when Waylon or Charlie Daniels is singing it.

Pretty sure this is somewhere on this thread at least once, but it would have been years back.
That empty chair with Roy's guitar is tough. Especially when you remember that two more of these guys are gone now, too.
