Don’t the recent moves kindof fly in the face of the arguments for why we couldn’t get into the old CUSA or the modern AAC? Just freakin win and everything else follows, market be damned? If we were a winner, knocking off Texas, OU, Miss St, and K State even occasionally, would our market matter at all? Seems to me, a lot of schools who just freakin win are in big conferences in spite of their market.

Edit: we do have the original subject of the thread as well as ASU and Arizona as examples of market still playing a part because they haven’t won anything in a long time. So market does still matter obviously.

The PAC 8, PAC 10, PAC 12 is down to the PAC 4. This is nutso. The portal ruined CFB and now all this conference jumping has put a final bullet in it, put college football out of its misery.

Just watched a recap of the 1970 season all broadcast on ABC. Bill Fleming did the pre-game and was sideline reporter for ABC. Broadcasters like Chris Schenkel handled the play-by-play and former Oklahoma coach Bud Wilkinson the color. When compared to today it was so "traditional." I became a CFB fan in that era and miss it.

Doubtful I’ll watch any college football this year. Watched maybe 4-5 games last year in their entirety, and that was because I was at someone’s house and it was on. The days of Tech having even a glimmer of hope of being anything other than being a bottom feeder in CUSA are over, so there’s no point in me watching the money grab that is college football anymore.

I noticed years ago that we have too many Tech grads who are not Tech fans. They say "we" when referring to anything lsu. Our leadership began kicking our true fans to the curb back when the dumb asses hired McClelland. It really goes even farther back than that. That would be when our president fired the best AD we have had only to hire the worst AD we ever had.

On SiriusXM's College Sports Sunday this morning Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports said that he expects changes to the CFP deal when it comes up in 2026.

He said he expects, when all the conference changes that have come and will come, the top 6 conference champions clause is going to go away.

Rather than the top 6 FBS champions plus 6 at-large the deal will be the top 12 schools as determined by the Committee, no automatic champion's slots.

No automatic access for the G5 or what will become of the Pac 12. And if Florida State and Clemson are able to make their way out of the ACC by 2026, the ACC champion may be on the outside looking in, as well.

If you are one of the big guys, this is great. If you are one of about 110 other schools, this sucks.

Might as well make it NFL lite. It already is.

I think the Big 3 (Big 12, SEC, BIG10) settle on 20 (10 each division plus two teams from the division every year). A 12 team playoff between the three.

The ACC is consumed by the SEC/Big12/Big10 (Clemson, Florida State, Miami), ND after 2026 May need the Big10.

The coattails riders of the ACC are probably on the outside looking in.

The rest of the football world can maybe settle back down and reform.

I honestly wish they would consider a pro/rel format that would help the big conferences shed lesser teams for better competition. It would also give lower conferences something to aspire to!

Not very "woke" and very capitalist of the big 3 to leave out the left coast and ACC schools.

Expect to hear more of the above BS from the remnants of the P5.

Cal and Stanford rumors that they are heading to the ACC... is this because the ACC is afraid they are fixing to lose two teams and a move to buffer, or trying to grow and keep pace. Cal and Stanford are just desperate.

If I'm Stanford, I'm going Independent in Football and WCC in everything else.

If they want to stay with Cal, then MWC is the way to go.

The All Coast Conference is awful for Olympic Sports.

After seeing that Apple TV deal and the lack of ANY major broadcaster willing to even pick up the PAC-12, it's no wonder they are dead. Leave it to the PAC-12 to make Judy look decent in comparison.

The ACC will lose at least two (Clemson and Florida State - those two are just the ones trying to figure out how to get around the grant/suing)...maybe more. The SEC is already exploring with ESPN adding TWO more schools and keeping the present valuations, so you know it is coming. Big Ten desperately wants ND, and maybe the way they do that is to cut off all their scheduling partners???

The States (Washington and Oregon) trying to figure out how to run a program on much less revenue than they are used to is priceless. Begging the MWC to pick them up?

Cal and Stanford are on an island. The ACC adding Cal and Stanford would be insanity in travel. Coast to coast to coast? And I'm not sure Cal and Stanford bring you anything more once you lose Clemson and Florida State...Relevancy in football will not be guaranteed.

With our history I am not given to much sympathy when it comes to realignment. It sucks for them that they had a place at the big boy table subsidized for a long time and now that's gone, but at least they had those years and years of getting money thanks to USC and Oregon.

If you're them you have to just suck it up and join the MWC and then take advantage of your head start! Stay at the top.

ACC Reportedly Considering Texas School For Conference Expansion (msn.com) - SMU.

You'd think they'd need another in Texas - Rice (just for the market).

SMU is only 1100 miles from the Atlantic. Makes perfect sense. I know it’s not about that at all, but it’s silly

Vanderbilt got it made. Suck at football but get to be in a power conference.
