The next 2 road games will tell us all we need to know.
3 missed FTs in the final minute hurt, but I felt we should have used more pressure on the inbounds after the last FT. If you foul, the go to line to shoot 2 and tie, but that dude had just hit a 3 to tie it, don’t let him roam free. I did think we showed a lot of promise after being down double digits and storming back.
Iso playing any of the first half of games the same way he plays the second half would probably make us undefeated. Getting early free throws and getting his defender into early foul trouble completely changes the complexion of all our games.
That was a bad loss to a 261 NET team -
Once again poor FT shooting and questionable moves from the sideline (an 80% FT shooting team turns into a 50% shooting team in the last 10 minutes of ballgames - that's discipline)
Yes we are more talented than we were last year so he can recruit, but we still are at a severe coaching deficit in a lot of games
Staring strait at an 0-3 road trip
While Dillard and Xavier and Texas Christian Blind Brothers don't count against RPI or NET - they don't make a true representation of competition - personally, I would much rather player a SWAC, MEAC or low level SLC team because in theory we are NOT getting an at-large

I'm not sure if the STL game can be blamed on the FTs. Yes we missed 3 in the Final minute, but he 1st half is the reason we lost. Going down 13 in the 1st half (trailing by 10 at the half). Crawford was off in the 1st half. Luckily he showed up in the 2nd half.
Also on the FTs, only 4 Tech players went to the line
Batcho 8-14 (missed 1 in the final minute)
Isaiah 4-4
Newman 4-6 (Missed 2 in final minute)
Henry 3-3
McNeese State is quietly sitting at 10-2, one of their losses to us. Just a tidbit of information to help pass your day.
It can be -
Blew a 6pt lead in the last 30 seconds -
Missed 3 FTs in that period and numerous coaching blunders on the defensive end
Like I said - he can win blowouts and is about 50/50 hanging on for the win in games with a sizeable lead (10pts or greater in the last 10 minutes)

I liked the way we walked them down in the second half. We didn't finish but we did walk them down. Newman was a tad off with his shot. He can hit open 3's but he was a touch off. His addition gives us a level of composure we haven't had in a while.
Ezewiro was better than we expected. Jimerson couldn't miss in the first half, and several of his shots weren't easy. We got into his business a little better in the second half. Then Hargrove went el fuego. He definitely gave Mangum a forearm shiver to get the game winner off but we should have cut him off before he got to that position, he dribbled up the court unmolested.
Seattle will be an interesting match-up. I like our chances.
