The post game interview was interesting last night. For the second time LB said that he might have to get Bates in the games as a position player, but that he nor Bates wanted that. Dave, in a very nice way, suggested he put Comeaux at first and Davis in RF. LB replied, that they had done that, but didn't say why he didn't want to do it consistently.
BTW, Davis made a great play in RF last night and IMO, is not in his best role at 1st.
I'm pretty sure LB has already decided what he will do, but it won't be playing Comeaux as much as he should be.
Comeaux is batting .304 with only 23 at bats.
The two he insists on running out there every night are batting .147 with almost 50 at bats between them.
That was a tough watch last night...

We're saving our best play for conference games...at least that's what I'm told.
What’s happened to the highly touted Broderson who Burroughs did such a big sales job bringing to Tech? I’ll tell you, Fouts has probably gotten him off track of what he once was just like he does with the majority of the pitching staff. Case in point how Fouts has progressively ruined Martinez who at one point had some potential and now is almost completely ineffective. At this point Tech doesn’t even need any “closers”. Make our most efficient pitchers starters like Bates and let’s go from there.
I don’t understand how it can be so difficult. We have great gloves(if all the right guys are out there-AD and Drost are the weakest gloves). Quit over thinking it. Tell the guys to throw strikes instead of trying to call pitches in the corners. We aren’t good enough to paint corners, so you would think we are inconsistent enough to miss the middle of the plate most of the time. Change speeds and throw a wrinkle every now and then. Let the fielders make a play. It’s really simple like little league only with bigger babies on the field.
I'll say this -
This team doesn't pass the eye test when it lines up against teams like Xavier, USM and USL -
We are very small and don't look the part - in the field and on the mound
No DUDES in today's slang...
Got a couple of good players - no one great
And I really wish we would drop this "REVENGE TOUR" crap for McConnell - "Redemption" maybe - but KARMA is a bitch and it should not be labeled revenge in any shape, form or fashion

Does our pitching staff lead the nation in hit batters? Just asking because it seems that way.
Fouts hates for his pitchers to actually pitch in the strike zone on 0-2, 1-2 or 2-2 counts. That’s when he repeatedly calls for pitches off the plate or in the dirt. Guess what? Batters know that, so Fouts has essentially let the batter off the hook and now here it comes when it’s 2-2 and eventually 3-2 when the pitcher has now lost his rhythm and confidence and slowly but surely everything turns into shit.
Was everyone paying attention last night in Burroughs’ postgame interview when he finally let the secret slip for why Drost and Safford play so regularly despite their horrendous batting performances? You better sit down. It’s because they bat left handed and he thinks he needs more lefty batters. Seriously? What? We’re playing 2 bad batters because of the side of the plate they stand on. Excuse me but wouldn’t it really be smarter to play people who can actually hit the ball and put it in play? I kid you not that’s what the baseballology brain said. Play Evans! Play Comeaux! Play some other guy on the bench who is some sort of guarded secret that no one knows about.
Since he got here, he tries to matchup hitters and pitchers and it never works. Just put a guy out there who throws strikes even if he throws it with his foot. Put a guy out there who can hit regardless of what side of the plate he is on. Matchups work out in the pros after years of video of guys playing 162 game seasons. In 50 games with the wide range of talent level you see across college baseball, there is not enough video to know much of anything about how guys match up against any one type of thrower. At least I firmly believe this.
