    Re: Game one

    Defense was pretty good
we beat a ranked fcs team somewhat convincingly
punting was excellent (our strength this year?)
I am glad he is still here but why is Tru still here? His dad?
why didn’t we pick up a proven good qb in the portal? Holtz did it every year without the portal with great results.

Coach Crummy is still crummy, and so is the team. Defense played well, only gave up 7 points, the other 10 points were curtesy of our lousy QBs, the pick six and the interception return that led to their made FG. Nicholls gained nothing, they kicked their FG on 4th and 10. Yep, the defense played well...especially my man from Rummel, Fields, but this was an FCS team.

Baker has a wet noodle for an arm, he has ZERO future as a Div 1 FBS QB and Tech should cut ties ASAP. He'll probably portal to a Texas FCS school on his own though. I was hoping for more from Turner, but he's still the same, victim of all that "great" coaching from Crummy. The OL was supposed to be improved...didn't look like it.

NC State will beat us like a rented mule, something like 45-10, and Tech Nation will get that dose of reality. But, we can all enjoy being 1-0 for two weeks!

    Re: Game one

Lost in all the overwhelming stuff of college football for Tech like the woeful coaching of Coach Crumble and the general lack of D1 talent due to the rigged portal and NIL is the now near non existent city of Ruston and alumni attendance. The West side of the stadium, historically made up by the older fanbase of Tech, wasn’t at all impressive to start the game and it was even worse after the rain came and they left. What I noticed from my new cheaper East side seats was how mostly empty the blue back seats were. I remember back to the good old days when for years I had 8 of those seats for the whole family. That was before Tech priced me out of being a big fan. For those of you who don’t know and might be interested Tech took to a special chair back charge for a blue seat as if I was buying the chair back itself year after year. Well ok I get it for a one time charge for a season ticket holder, but paying that same charge for the same seat year after year just became a price gouging charge to me, so I slowly became a non season ticket holder and I’m never going back. Not only that but my 8 attendees is now only an occasional 2 or 3.

Something else I noticed from the East side seats were the names of Bradshaw, Roaf and Dean as Tech’s only recognized Hall of Fame football players. What a terrible shame and insult it is that Tech doesn’t recognize their other 2 football Hall of Famers in Tom Hinton and Matt Dunigan. It’s not like Tech is going to ever have any other Hall of Famers being that the program is on the decline and no future superstar is going to start and finish their playing career at Tech. If Tech was smart they’d recognize all the greats they’ve had whether they played American or Canadian pro football. A Hall of Fame is a Hall of Fame.

Have other coaches in the past had 30 guys on the sideline in sweats and t shirts? Do we not dress a full squad? Dang I miss the days of exciting football where we won or lost 52-48. Jack Bicknell teams were way more interesting than this garbage. At this point, even the Southland would probably say thanks by no thanks.

We’ve always had the redshirts dressed down on the sideline

Gotcha. Defense played well against a severely inferior opponent. I don’t like only having 3 down lineman.

The only positive I took from that game was spending time with my dad. Unless their is significant improvement I won’t make that 800+ mile round trip to watch that again. We are slow, don’t have even a good QB for the FBS level, poor play calling on offense, and a defense that was “good” against an FCS team, but will struggle with FBS speed even in CUSA. It will be a long season.

3 years and zero improvement on offense or special teams. I’ve come to grips with the fact that we will never have any degree of relevance in football again, but surely we can hire someone who can teach basic fundamentals. We will struggle to win another game this year.

So, LSU lost last night, but the OC and DC used to be at Tech, yanno back when we were not only going to bowl games, but also winning them. And Skip has now won several USFL/UFL Championships. What's the old saying? - - You don't know how good you have it until it's gone!!!!!

I thought Skip's time at Tech had run its course, but if he were still at Tech, I don't think he would be doing any worse than what has been happening since he has been gone.

I am not confident that USFL success would translate to FBS success.

Moving on from Holtz was the right move. Moving to Cumbie was the wrong one and we will pay forever.

    Positives from tonight's game:

    1. Punting and Kicking were good.
    2. Other than some popping in Q1, the sound and new scoreboard was good.
    3. Whomever is running sound did not play at same time BOP was playing as in past.
    4. Defense manned up when they needed to.
    4. It rained. We can use the rain.

    Negatives:

    1. O-Line blocking was bad
    2. Punt returns were bad
    3. We do not have speed at running back to execute sweeps. Tried it multiple times tonight with no success.
    4. Turnovers

This may have been the only game I attend this season. I do not have season tickets, and don't have plans to attend anymore right now but that could change.
You pretty much nailed it -

I will add the game day operations were much improved overall - Ivey is at least listening and trying and Henderson is giving him the power to make the necessary little changes

That's a BAD football team - Larry Beigthl-ish bad - the offense reminds me of what Karl Torbush trotted out

Unless there is a higher payout for firing him before the season ends, he will be gone before the end of October

I agree - those two need to be honored in the stadium

We vacated my 4 blue seats as soon as the first sprinkle hit

I'm not going to be wet and watch that poor product on the field

I'll probably make the Tulsa game but after that who knows how many I'll make - I'm to the point of apathy

    Re: Game one

At least we have avoided 0-12. So, my ultimate wish for this season has been met, yeah baby! If we manage to win a couple more games, that'll just be icing on the cake. Maybe, with luck, Crummy can match his 3-9 records he has "achieved" so far. I can't say what Vegas will do about who is favorite in upcoming games, but in reality, not on paper, Tech is inferior to every team left on the schedule and could lose all 11.

Now, since I also know sports are a funny thing with strange things happening, it is possible we catch a team (or two) on their off day. That can happen. And, if there's any hope to cling to, our defense did look pretty good, albeit vs. an FCS opponent, so! if the D is actually good, we can win some games because of that. All of that might equate to a 4-8 season, at best.

    Re: Game one

I agree it was time to move on from Skip, but Cumbie has turned out to be a bad call. He is looking like a death nail to the program if something doesn't change. I was surprised by how well the defense played/looked. I think if they avoid injuries they will improve and be the bright spot. I didn't get to see much of the season last year live, but i was shocked at how weak Baker's arm is!! It also looked like he has a lower-than-normal delivery which just makes it worse. I think there is some talent on the offense, but it is being hindered by the play calling and Qb play.

We really are bad enough to lose the rest of the slate.
