Not true! There have been other teams with 5-7 records that went to a Bowl Game. I know someone from the SEC went a few years ago.

Cumbie gets 25k for this bowl game, if he wins it he gets another 50k. Use that to shop for a QB.

I didn’t say anything about his 5-7 record this year. I essentially said 3 consecutive losing seasons (3-9, 3-9 & 5-7) and somehow miraculously getting a backing-in bowl invitation. I’ll definitely take it for the team, whatever team we have left come game day, but we didn’t exactly earn it.

There is no way in hell that we earned it.

But, I am not going to complain because there have been many years in which deserving Tech teams were left out in favor of less-deserving teams.

I just hope there is not some stupid clause that gives Cumbie an extension for going to a bowl game.

    Re: Marshall withdraws from Indy

So, who is going to be calling the offensive plays at the Independence Bowl? Have the 2024 Co-Offensive Coordinators already been given their walking papers? Will Tony Franklin come on board and call the plays using the 2024 playbook since there isn't time to install a new system before the Independence Bowl? Will Cumbie be doing the play calling? ?????? So many questions...

That right there is what I thought you meant with your original comments. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

I haven't forgotten what the Indy Bowl did to Tech in 2012. They are trash!

Now we bail them out by taking another beat down in a game that will actually be "nationally televised".

    Re: Marshall withdraws from Indy

When the news broke my wife said, "when's kickoff?" 8:15 PM, I said. She said, "I'm booking us a hotel room in Shreveport..." Hold that thought, not sure I'm going. And after sleeping on it, I think I'll watch that slaughter on TV. I have never missed an Indy Bowl in person when Tech has played...think it's time for a first. But, Go Dawgs! I'll be watching and rooting for ya!

Yes, the Indy Bowl has royally screwed Tech several times, and yes, Tech has royally bailed them out before...add 2024 to that list.

And think about Army!!! Holy chit! Yesterday they began the day, 11-1, ranked 22nd, looking forward to the big rivalry game, and disappointed their reward for winning the AAC was a trip to Shreveport to play the Belch champs, the Thundering Turd. I bet Army folks were asking, "could this be any worse?" YEPPERS!!!! At least Marshall had a winning record and was a conference champion. Now, you poor saps at Army you get....a loser to play! coached by the WORST coach in Tech history and one of the worst coaches of all time. Enjoy your trip to S'port.

Saw a video this morning by Jeff Pearlman talking about the Marshall football team and them bailing on the Independence Bowl due to the 25 players entering the transfer portal. His comment: "Due to the actions of Marshall football team, Independence Bowl scrambles and they find a sh*tty replacement". Yep, that's what those from the outside (and from the inside as well) feel about La Tech football. My how far we have fallen!!

"sh*tty replacement?" He can't say that about our team...only we can say that about our team. Jeff Pearlman is a sorry-azz, POS.

They should permit us to combine the Tech and ULM teams. We still couldn't win but at least it wouldn't be that bad. Or let Tech play the first half and ULM the second half.

When you put it that way, Yikes! Maybe now Army will re-think they’re participating and back out too. So then what? How about 5-7 La Jech versus 5-7 (6 straight loses) NLU for an old fashioned rivalry knock-down-drag-out winner-take-all pussy-pillow powder-puff Clash of the Crappy, haha. Please no! I prefer a no-contest game against a seriously pissed team of Army men.

I envision a 48-3 game in less than pleasant weather conditions, along with some kind of play that goes viral (i.e. 87 yard fumble vs Moo State)

BTW, Crummy should NOT get the $25K bonus "for making a bowl," he did nothing of the sort.

Has Vegas opened a line on the game? Probably will be Army by 14, something like that.

Navy showed how to stymie Army's triple-option by making those late shifts in the DL just before the snap, throwing Army's blocking scheme off. That's the formula. The biggest challenge facing Tech is our offense being able to sustain drives and keep Army's offense on the sidelines.

    Know what???
Don't care. About the spread. About the score. About the fact that I will be in a house divided as "she who retired from the army and shall remain nameless for the next two weeks like Beetle Juice" has already started the trash talking...

I'm just gonna get two tickets, drive over to the stadium. get an insanely overpriced hamburger/fries/drink and try stay up past my bedtime as long as I can to support the guys.

Have fun Team and enjoy going bowling
