This thread was started to honor Chief. Code posted his first post ever to dishonor Chief. In my opinion, that qualifies him as a flamer. I'll gladly take my first stance on a topic on this board with this thread. Coach Mick was right in the fact that doing your job unfortunately results in upsetting some that want to do your job differently than you are doing it. And yes, many if not all of us, look back and wish we could retract some of our reactions in certain situations. I was raised in a home where when there was work to do, it didn't matter who was around it got done. Sam and his trainers and equipment managers were the unsung heroes of all 5 of the teams I played on. I watched this group of guys, ALL OF THEM, take crap from alums, admins, coaches, players and even some that had no affiliation that I could understand. Even from me when I allowed emotions and reactions to get the best of me. Sam tore my head off a few times, both politely and the other way. Both of which I deserved. But he also put up with much more of my crap. I can understand how some have posted. Man, I deal with that every day.
I like others feel that the posts were likely better at home in a different thread. I've got pleny of issues with my tenure at Tech. But they are mine. And mine to resolve. Not here when an Institution of our "beloved institution" (sorry to borrow your line Mr. Slaughter) was offered a sincere thanks for giving likely more to US than to his own family. Sam was a father-figure to many of us that were away from home. I sure appreciate him and his time and counsel. He didn't do much for me when following in the footsteps of Collis, Snod, Apple, and Hunt. There was a need for the thinkening of the skin. I'm glad I had to develop that both as a player and a person. He helped make the teams better by doing this. Sam helped make sure that you got at least a spoonful at dinner. Its paid off later in life.
Now as an adult with a family of my own, can understand and appreciate what he has done for so many years. Hats off to a great man who I owe a grand bit of gratitude to. Thanks, Sam.
You guys need to relax I never said anything bad about Sam I was just giving an opposing view to all the sunshine and lollipops that everyone was attributing to him. I was just trying to tell a story that in hindsight I probably should have kept to myself out of respect for all the years that Sam gave to Tech. I knew when I was posting it I was probably going to catch hell for it but I've never been very good at keeping my opinions to myself.
As I said in my original post I know that Sam meant a lot to many of the players, and apparently many of you to. All I was saying is that he did not treat everybody the same. If he didn't like you he made no secret about it and I wasn't the only one on the training staff he treated like that.

Tbonne was one of the greatest wide recievers that we ever had.
He was also a coach on 1990 Independence Bowl team. He is Tech man through and through. He helped teach me what it meant to be a part of the "Tech Family".
In that case, he might want to think about what he posts on a public internet forum for all to see.

Well CodeDog you are a true idiot and nothing short of shameful for that comment. First of all you can't even spell it's Sisemore you twit. So that let's me know you don't really know a whole lot. I've had the pleasure of being associated with the university for 18 years in numerous capacities one of which was working for "Chief". You are truly a puppy and should only speak of facts which you can stand by. I personally challenge you to give me any factual instance of which Chief or Sisemore has done anything short of give their heart and soul to the university. You give the facts and I'll be happy to say I was wrong, otherwise keep your rumors and stupid remarks to yourself.

I can speak for that instance as I witnessed it you cry baby. You know as well as everyone else that sam has a game face and on game weekends you better be tight and you not being where you should have is part of towing the mark. So step back and remember what excellence stands for and having thick skin is part of that.
