Look at the convection(red color, coldest highest cloud tops) become completely solid in the last 2 hours or so. This may be due to the fact it has been in water in the 84 degree range, and its moving into water that is several degrees warmer and fairly deep, relatively speaking...

I'm sure it was caused by AGW too, just like the one in 1935 with 892 mb that was caused by our ancestors dumping GIGATONS of CO2 into the atmosphere.
Ya, that last cat 5 was a dud. Amazing how the neighbors to the south managed to get everyone out, and we cant. Hmmm.
And ya, not many lives lost, thank God Almighty! Terrible crop damage. When one of our poor neighbors lose $10,000 in property or crops, and their homes, that is like, well you know....

I hear ya. Great point. CAt 5 damage down there in a non populated area isnt as bad today as it used to be, I guess. They get the word out, now, with our help. 40-80 years ago, they think a "large tropical" is coming in. No doubt more might have died.
Cat 5++ is going to get old. Cat 6 is coming.

Incidently, if one looks at the average # of named storms/hurricanes/major (cat3+) storms by month and projects our early sampling through the season, we are statistically set to fall at the low end or BELOW the projected # of named storms/hurricanes/major storms as announced by all hurricane centers. There were 5 named storms and 1 hurricane/major hurricane through the end of August.
Global Warming is just a symptom. The root cause is overpopulation. Overpopulation is driving all of this. Global Warming is the earth tweeking the control system to bring things back to where they should be. Don't worry, everything will correct itself. Soon the higher temperatures will lead to draught and famine. Those that don't starve to death will be killed when the earth's nations start fighting over what is left. Once all that gets sorted out, things will return to normal. Stockpile rations and armaments now. It will all be ok eventually.

Now, I have a shelter to go dig and build. Fortunately, I am probably at an elevation that will protect me from the widespread flooding that is coming.
