I was getting ready to buy a new truck until . . .

The local Ford dealer here told me about the new 2009 F-150. I was getting ready to buy a new 2008 F-150 in about March or April.

    Currently, the 2008's are a $4,000 rebate plus 0.9% for 60 months OR, 0% for 60 months.

I don't like the way the 2009's front looks in the video. I prefer the 2008. Acoording to the ownder of the Ford dealership here, they will be giving all kinds of deals come around July or so to get the 2008's off of the lot.

    Any thoughts anyone?

funny thing is, i've been a chevy/gmc guy all my life, until, we started lookign at new trucks. The toyota knocks all others out of the park. it would kill my father'in'law if we bought one LOL. My point to him has always been that toyota is mostly made in teh states anyway. its funny that they have a sticker on the windows now telling you as much.

I agree Rooster, the 08 is a better looking truck.

Imo, the Ford lately has been more show than go. My boss stomps his and it makes all kinds of rpm's but never seems to be going anywhere. My Dad's Chevy isn't any better. The Toyota has the muscle but looks like a mud cat with wheels headed toward you. The only Toyota I have riden in didn't impress me one bit with its interior. It could have been a lower level option in their line up, I don't know. One thing about it, they all smell good when new.

That's interesting. I find the Ford to be far too stiff on Lafayette's streets.

Anybody that drives a Ford or Chevy should test-drive the Yota Tundra. I parked a test-drive Ford F-150 at the Toyota dealership, tested the Tundra, dropped the F150 off and went back and bought the Tundra. Seriously, try it out. Drive a brand new Ford or Chevy and then go right over to the Toyota dealership. It's an amazing difference. This is coming from a guy who has driven two Ford F150s, back to back and my wife drove a Silverado....she now drives the Toyota 4-runner. There is simply no better driving/engineered truck on the road, IMO.

I don't doubt the Toyota's ability. It just hasn't grown on me looks wise.

On my return from picking up the kids at school I saw a very sharp gmc. Imo, it has the best looks.

Ross, did you get my pm last week?

I looked at Fords until the salesman gave himself the kiss of death by making a comment about me bringing my father in to the dealership to discuss price.

No kidding. He should have at least waited until it came time to sign the papers.

That's what happens when you try to buy a truck in a gorilla suit.

I love the way the new GMC truck looks. I have heard that the Toyota is a great truck, but I do not like the looks of it.
