No one is saying he will be a good AD BECAUSE his father was a good AD. I think some of us think the fact his dad was an AD will be beneficial to Dooley while he is our AD.

Cautiously Optimistic

GAAAAH THE SKY IS FALLING, BACK TO THE SUNBELCH ASAP! KNOW YOUR PLACE TECH!

It is totally an apples to apples comparison. The accomplishments of Chelsea's parents don't make Chelsea qualified no more than Vince Dooley's accomplishments make our Coach Dooley qualified for his. There is a lot of talk about the stint of Vince Dooley as AD and Head Coach. The game was totally different and they are different people.
I hope he succeeds. I want him to succeed. I am going to do everything I can to invest in that success and help him succeed. I suggest that all of us do the same. There are reasons to believe he is qualified to do this, but the fact that his father did it isn't one of them.
In all fairness, you aren't the only one proclaiming this fact. You have to admit. The skeptics do have a reason to be skeptical on this. There is a LOT of time needed for both positions. I keep hearing people say that Coach Dooley is going to have this big support staff and Coach Dooley is going to, and Coach Dooley is going to...
...I'd really feel safer if I could look into their crystal ball too.
Title 9 suit here we come first time a women's team gets the brush off when asking for funding in the middle of football season
damn...forget working your way through the ranks....just have a name and some friends to support you and easy big-time job!
Wouldn't make her (or him) qualified for the job, but assuming she was qualified in her own right (just as you have pointed out DD's stand-alone qualifications), then I would have to say having seen the job done would be quite a bonus. Think of it this way:
qualified+seen it done up close > qualified
Exactly -
Your AD should be the most stable and important position in your athletic department and the LOWEST profile - if you are going to go out on the limb go with the Vandy model or go bold and hire a VERY YOUNG up and comer -
Been following Tech a long, long time - and knowing the inner workings of how we've done business the last 20 years - this is a very scary move in my book -
I hope ya'll are right and I really HOPE I'm wrong -
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
I'm not sure I understand this. What we've been doing the last 20 years hasn't worked too well, so if this is scary because it is different from that - I'm ok with that for sure.
If this is scary because it isn't going to fit in with the way things have been done, I don't think that is a bad thing.
