I think it's time to re-assign him to some other section of the paper.

Effin' AY, my brother!
Not defending this guy's actions, but many of you are talking like sports writers for the student paper should be wearing Tech gear to games they cover. They're not public relations people, they're (pseudo-) journalists. Stories in the Tech Talk will obviously be slanted toward and written about Tech athletics, but the stories should still be written with impartiality. It's a newspaper, not a public relations outlet.
Along those lines -- while they may still be students, when they're working in a journalistic capacity, they need to act as such. Journalists should also not use "we" or "they," EVER. LSU is LSU. Tech is Tech. There is no "we" or "they" in objective news writing, or even in columns. If these kids are looking to pursue journalism as a career, they need to go about it the right way when they're writing for a student paper.
Bottom line -- this guy is a horrible reporter. He made a big mistake wearing an LSU hat to a Tech baseball game and walking in Simoneaux's office with the hat on. He made an even bigger mistake writing a blog about it, then a bigger mistake yet when he came on this board and tried to promote himself, then defend his actions. But fans on this board suggesting that Tech Talk sports writers wear Tech gear while covering athletic events and practice blatant homerism in their writing is being unreasonable. But at the same time, there's NEVER any excuse for them wearing clothes featuring the logo of another school.
Kevin, if you read this, I sure hope you're taking notes. If you want to be a journalist, learn how to act like one.
Kevin, if you want to be a dawg and get all the benefits associated with being a dawg, learn how to act like one!
I just couldn't help it.

Actually, doesn't he always add "man" after Peter's name? It's funny how hard that actor is trying to be a redneck. OH YEAH.. I bet that guy could be Miss Stake's mascot!![]()
I disagree. Student newspapers are traditionally the official--or at least unofficial--voice of the student body. "We" should always refer to students of that university. Furthermore, as the voice of the student body, there should be unequivocal support for the members of that student body who represent the university on the athletic field. For any student to wear the gear and support the student athletes of another school is a disgrace; to wear such gear to interview the coach of one of your own school's athletic teams is classless.
