I noticed your new signature last night and my curiousity caused me to climb to the attic to find my old Latin dictionary in search of aericumbens and anguillis.
I found the "scoundrels" but no aericumbens.

I routinely breakfast with other OLD odd fellows and Warren was there this morning.
Warren is a retired college professor/theologian who prefers his coffee black with sugar and Latin. So I explained my aericumbens mystery. But even Warren was at a loss for this latin adjective.

Ergo...... With my curiousity and Warren's frustration, we both went to the library after breakfast in search of aericumbens. But even the super Latin dictionary at the library could not solve your aericumbens conundrum.

    SO......
Would you be so kind as to fill in the blank and tell what manner of scuondrel manned ship you sail?

    Cheers.
it is probably made up. it is supposed to mean "my hovercraft is full of eels," but that phrase is from a monty python sketch about a very bad hungarian-to-english phrasebook. so i would not be surprised at all if the the latin translation is intentionally incorrect.

    Thanks for the speedy reply......
I was occupied last night with some sarcasm and forgot to respond beer4 I drank my fill.

    Anyway, and if your interested......
The translation of your signature reads MY ______ ship is full of scoundrels.
From what you have told me, it appears safe to assume that aericumbens is not a Latin word. But if it was, it would modify the noun ship.

    Cheers......
And I wish you would once again post here more often.

For how long could SLAVERY have continued to exist ANYWHERE without any such ILLEGAL WAR?
And would the relationship between the USA and the CSA look more like America and Cuba for the last @50 years......

according to my dubious source (wiktionary), anguillis is plural for anguilla, which means eel. not to doubt your source, but could it be that the word for eels was also used to describe scoundrels, like snakes or worms?

also, my extremely limited knowledge of latin derivitives makes me think that is is at least possible that aericumbens could mean "born on air" or "carried by air" although this is probably not a word that would have been commonly used among latin speakers.

so perhaps it could be translated "my ship which is carried on air has plenty of scoundrels" or "my hovercraft is full of eels."

All I need the feds to do is stay out of my business and my plot. I blow blue smoke in my home and in the home of friends. The only remuneration I have ever received for my Thai sticks is a little food and drink. I bother no one except Ninfa!

I thought it meant "of air" or "full of air"... I admit my Latin is well... bad.

I want the government to 1)Keep me from getting blown up or otherwise mangled by any enemies 2)Take as little of MY money as is necessary 3) Maintain good roads 4) Otherwise leave me the eff alone.

remember, we're talking about the federal government. so in my opinion, #3 doesn't apply here.

The federal government does not belong in the job creation business, railroad business, prescription medicine business, or my business.

Finding out after Gus that FEMA ought to pay the deductible on the "named storm" insurance changes in Louisiana that they let happen (State Insurance commissioner) post-Katrina. Sort of made me wonder if the state assumed FEMA would pick it up when these deductibles that many can't afford became the norm (5% for Allstate customers and 2% for State Farm customers). Its definitely a good reason to have a good emergency fund (and not Allstate Insurance in Louisiana), but I'd hate to see taxpayers become responsible for the choices we make in where we live.

Now, do I agree with the deductibles being that high? Not really - would rather pay higher premiums and a $2K or less deductible - or whatever rates I wanted to pay for whatever deductible. But, they didn't ask us.

Hurricanes really annoy me with the entitlement mentality that shows its ugly head!

It's a good thing we didn't have leaders like LBJ (Cartek's Hero) before the great depression.

the federal government owes me a $5000 fema check for the hardships i endured evacuating from ike.

but seriously, they may owe me payment on the flood insurance policy i purchased from them. we'll see.
