    ESPN prestige rankings?

Big crock if you ask me. Duke at 38, SMU at 61. Give me a break. SMU's track record since the death penalty should have been enough to land them behind NLULM.

How in the heck did FAU get ahead of us. thats a total crock. Go to College football data warehouse for a more accurate ranking system.

I find this ranking humorous. I know we are better than what they havei us down. They haven't done their homework.

i see nothing wrong with the rankings....

of course that may be because FSU is #9, and the ACC is the second most prestigious conference closely behind the Big 10 (if you look at average rankings).

that stuff would have ABSOLUTELY NO influence on my liking the rankings...

Yes '06. Good point. Isn't being prestigious like being elite?

This was the most amusing part of the whole thing...

ESPN's Prestige Rankings are a numerical method of ranking the best FBS college football programs since the 1936 season. Point values were assigned for certain successes (win a national title, earn 25 points) and failures (get your program banned from the postseason, lose two points).
    So Duke football is #38?

So who did SMU blow to get ranked so high? Receiving the NCAA death penalty doesn't seem to have hurt them at all.

I do find it funny that LA Tech is ranked ahead of Memphis, UAB, UTEP and Tulane of CUSA. Especially Memphis and Tulane. Their fans will go beserk when they see this.

That's their scoring system. We'd be at a disadvantage in that we've only been D1A since 88 while some of these schools have been at it since the 1936 starting point.

Tech was Division I from 1975-77 and Division I-A from 1978-81 with two bowl appearances that count in that timeframe.

It seems like Tulane would be ranked significantly higher than Tech. TU has more bowl appearances, more bowl wins, an undefeated season not too long ago, is a founding member of the SEC, and is 8-0 against Tech. I guess Tech's higher winning percentage is enough to skew the results of their ranking methodology.

as far as prestige goes, i would tend to agree with you. their formula is obviously flawed, as demonstrated by many examples already mentioned above.

Yeah, I didn't mean to say anything negative about Tech with my statement. You guys obviously have the far superior program currently and will for the foreseeable future. I just think if you look at the two schools objectively Tulane has had a better history up until the 2000's.
