Why, yes; I'm talking about the Mrs. Baird's Bakery Outlet Store, o.c. -- one of the best little "hidden gems" in Ruston.

I eat a slice of their delicious whole wheat bread (toasted, & slathered with honey and cinnamon) every morning for breakfast with my double espresso. That bread costs just $1.15 per loaf, compared to generally =/> $3.34 at most grocery stores, incl. Walmart. Either that, or I have one of their delicious whole wheat English Muffins (toasted and slathered the same) for breakfast. Great Low Prices; plus, if you spend $6.00 or more when you checkout, you get your choice off the "freebie" rack. Plus, the manager will often stick a free snack cake in with your purchases. Plus, you get a Bakery Outlet Card on which they punch out how much you have purchased. When total purchases reach $30.00, you earn a FREE loaf of bread and a FREE snack cake. WOW, what a deal !

Plus, there is always lots of Bimbo stuff there. (I'm guessing that's because Bimbo Bakeries owns Mrs. Baird's ??)

I was wondering what your previous bimbo remark was all about.

I don't have to wonder what you were hoping it was all about.

Thanks, I thought that's what you meant but wasn't sure. I guess the "bimbo" part threw me off. We used to stop at their outlet almost daily for the whole wheat bread when they were on the end of the Texaco that's now closed at the corner of Hwy.33 and W. Kentucky. I was really distressed when they closed. Loved that cheap bread, which was also a bargain whenever I made it down to the old Holsum outlet before Holsum moved across the highway where Mrs. Baird's is now. Anyway, the owner was always giving me a freebie at the Hwy.33 location as well. Didn't have the cards and $6 deal that I remember. Actually their whole wheat is about the only kind of whole wheat I even care to eat.

im sure it has been said already but I don't have time to read through each post. But hamburger at sundown, poboy from ponchatoulas, some cajun roasted potato's from log cabin, bar-b-q from dowlings, steak at rabbs, and that is what i'm thinking are the best things in the city to eat. and for mexican i would go to tia maria's it is very underrated

Last I heard from the owner of the Boardwalk, Jay Melancon, there is supposed to be a restaurant coming into that location called "Sage."

I have been told that it is a high dollar steakhouse and that they have a location in Monroe or West Monroe -- I also have heard that this Ruston location is going to be more of a sports bar and grill.

So, what was your favorite selection at Griff's? Mine was the cheeseburger special, followed closely by the 25-cent hamburger special every Tuesday night (I think). Actually, their chocolate milkshakes were pretty good!

The monster cheeseburger deal. A triple cheeseburger, fries, and large drink, which for some reason cost 40 cents LESS than the double cheeseburger deal.

Who cares. Rabbs feels like your eating inside of a nursing home. The food is good, but that place is depressing.
