Am I the only person who has teenagers equipped with cell phones who will NOT answer the land line phone anymore? Driving my wife and I crazy!

When I was a kid (a long time ago), my brother and I ran over each other to get to the phone when it rang.

Seriously though, our 3 year old answers that line about as often as we do.

Today I judged a middle school / high school science fair. I have a few observations.

To me, some of those should have been disqualified since the people had been working on them for several years before the fair. I thought it was something that had to be done in a certain timeframe.

I'm guessing that the ones doling out all that money are pretty careful about the rules. Maybe AG knows if they have a time limit.

There was no time limit. In fact, many students worked on the same project year after year so that when they got into high school it was an extremely complex project and was very well done.

probably the same guy that first tasted brussels sprouts and not only swallowed, but thought they were good enough to share with others.

I think brussel sprouts must have been royalty. It seems like a classic "you've got to taste this" sort of misery-loves-company deal, but it had to be somebody with the status for people to believe they were supposed to like it. The culinary equivalent of the emperor's new clothes.

What gets me about the asparagus is that there are apparently enough people buying it to support the industry. Just makes no sense to me at all. And unfortunately that was the only way I remember being served asparagus as a kid. I was an adult before I learned that I actually like asparagus--as long as it is fresh (and still crunchy when served).
