RAW is fantastic. I had the sushi (Spicy California rolls), fried rice, and Yellow Curry with Shrimp which was outstanding. Prices are very reasonable with entrees in $10-12 range if I remember. Clean and modern decor. In my opinion the sushi is better than 102 Bistro. This place will (hopefully) be around for awhile. Sure beats Peking.

So am I the last to hear this or is it a rumor? Someone who works near the new Malone development on Kentucky/33 said there would be an Olive Garden, Taco Bell, a grocery store of some sort, and a Hilton Garden Inn. Also mentioned a "Nuke's"?? or "Newt's"?? or something. Not sure what that is and they didn't know either. Have you heard of anything with a similar name that that might be? I've asked them several times over the last few months and this is the first time they actually had an answer as to what was going in. Is it just the usual rumor, though? If so, don't meant to start a new one or feed this one.

newks was started by the same people who started McAllisters. Original one is in Oxford Ms. A doctor out of Clinton opened one in Shreveport awhile back and it is non stop busy. Good food, large portions, and good atmosphere. Most serve beer and wine, but the one in Sport doesnt yet.

This is the first I have heard of some the names you mentioned. I have heard that there would be a taco bell, but that has been awhile back. We'll see what happens.

I sure hope you are right about this. We ate at McAlister's in Monroe yesterday and were commenting that what Ruston needs is a McAlister's.

Oh, good. I love McAllister's now and then and have also said many a time that we needed one. Thought the old Shoney's would have been a good place for one.

I don't mind chain restaurant coming into town...but we need to support our local establishments (Ponchatoulas, Dowling's, Dawghouse, etc).

So what's this about Tractor Supply? Who is that and where is it going to be? Darn, I was hoping for more "fun" things for us girls to shop for along there than tractors. :icon_wink:

It's not what it sounds like. More of a farm/ranch supply store. Has pet foods & supplies, hardware, etc., and even some decorative items.

Yes, Tractor Supply is a chain, but you won't see tractors -- except lawn mower types. I'd never been in one til they opened in West Monroe. Was surprised at their inventory, considering their name.
