so much for an at large bid

Only way we make the NCAA tourney, is to win the WAC tourney. Way to show up last night guys!

Glad Rupp had the team prepared for the largest crowd of the season. Too bad they won't be back this year.

Yeah, not trying to be negative but besides putting ourselves out of contention for an at large bid, but I feel our mbb program could have made a major stride last night. I had 14 friends and family many who drove in from Shreveport, I've read posts of others driving from BR and even texas. I'm sad to say thier trip did nothing to make them want to come back on a regular basis.

The loss of potential fan base was the most disappointing thing from last night. IMO

The only WAC team that has a realistic shot at an at-large now is Utah State, and the Aggies would probably have to run the table until the WAC final to even get on the bubble. Tech would have to come close to running the table like Utah State to get back into at-large consideration, and I just don't see that right now.

Today's RPIs...Utah State 53, Nevada 65, Tech 75, New Mexico State 82. Change last night's loss to a win, and Tech would be at 53 just ahead of Utah State. Home losses are RPI killers.

Projected RPIs are now Utah State 39, Nevada 49, Tech 60, and New Mexico State 65. That projection is based on an 11-5 WAC finish with losses on the road against the other three listed teams.

NMSU's RPI has been hurt because of early season losses in games played without McKines. They are a much better team with him on the court.

I expect TECH will probably finish ahead of Nevada in the standings although we may not win the RPI battle. Fortunately, the game is still played on the court and not through RPI's.

That was the only way we were ever going to get in the NCAA, unless our third loss was the conference championship game. We aren't on the BB radar. Season is still in our hands. Basketball is a unique game, things change very quickly. This is the time where coaching and maturity shows. Things will be interesting to watch from here on in.

Guys you are overreacting, nothing is determined at this point. There are still 10-11 games left, we win 8-9 of them we will have 26-27 wins and a pretty decent resume. On the pessimistic side we have some tough road games left and we are going to have to bring our A game to finish strong, our last 4 road games are at NMSU, USU, Nevada, and FSU. If we can split those 4 that would be awesome. We can't afford another home loss to stay in the WAC race though.

I want to see a WAC Championship Banner raised in TAC this year.

I never thought we had a good shot at an at-large and I knew it was way TOO early for alot of the talk going on - especially with a back loaded road schedule -

Just play the games and win as many as possible and be hot & healthy during the WAC tourney

San Jose St just became HUGE thursday nite....

We may have peaked a little early with the excellent Dec. and Jan. play. Our starters are probably weary from all the minutes. I never expected an at-large bid unless we won the conference and had no more than 4 losses. While possible, not likely with our schedule. That being said, it is not too late to peak again and run off some victories. We need to win 3 out of 4 on the road at Utah, FSU, NMSU and Reno to help with the seeding at the Wac tourney. No play in game for 9th place team.

Has anybody else noticed that we seem to play better when we DON'T have long breaks (or long layoffs) before a big game? We played poorly at SJSU after a 7-day layoff, and we played horrible Sat nite against NMSU after a 6-day layoff. That's coaching!

If you have realistic expectations you won't be disappointed. Before the season started I was just hoping that both the Dawgs and Techsters won 20 games and played in the post season, be it the NCAAs or NIT (WNIT). I am sticking to those goals.

Both teams are good. At times, they have shown flashes of being very good. But, neither has been able to "bring it" for 40 mins, night after night.

So! win 20+ games and reach the post season. That makes a successful season for any basketball team.

I was thinking the same thing. The lack of bench shouldn't be bothering us. In the past our football has experienced the same issue with long gaps between games.

Dave asked Rupp about it during the post game interview. Rupp doesn't like the long layoffs.

It's those flashes of being very good that have us so frustrated! It's one thing for a team to obviously be doing the best they can but sometimes coming up short. It's something else to look like world-beaters one game and then lay down another game. It's tough enough to get beat; it's really annoying to make it easy for them to beat you!

I agree, we have shown some real promise when we play a complete game. Other than the home wins against USU and UN, we haven't put together a solid 40 minute game.
