I did. They are tough to find on the market right now. I'll look at the Kahr CW9 if Academy has one in stock. It's funny, the one guy I know who has had a negative experience with a Taurus was with one of their snub nose revolvers.
I think Taurus has a quality control problem and that's why folks either love them or hate them. Every company puts out lemons. I've read many forums where Kimbers frequently had to go back to the shop.
It's a calculated risk. My budget isn't ready for a Kahr PM9 (which is what I would like to get), so I don't have trouble getting a gun that, by all accounts, is well designed, but may have to go back to Taurus in the event that I get a lemon. I'm okay with that. The PT709 has been out for about a year and a half. Most first generation guns have issues. I'm hoping Taurus has resolved some of them with the 709. What isn't debatable is that those who have a properly functioning 709 LOVE them.
