I like the QB's we have on roster and the JUCO kid is goin to add some really nice competition. It's going to be fun watching the whole offense from the 1's all the way to the 3's get better with such a deep QB battle going on. Practice is going to be some serious heat..no pun intended for August.

That looks like 2 or 3 games. Did he start at the JC?

Agree. We have a STOUT 2 deep at WR this year.
No need to waste his eligibility.

Unless Ensminger or Cameron have undergone transforming experiences, I think we struggle to 7-5 with the QB's on roster. All the great receivers in the world make no difference if the ball is overthrown, underthrown, thrown behind, not thrown at all, or worse still, thrown to the wrong team.

Re: Too early for a 2-deep?

I disagree LFR. Look at all the QB's at TT, Hawaii, etc... that have never made it to the NFL. Those QBs were all very successful in college because of good WR's that can turn a 6 yard hitch into a 60 yard TD. In college when you have great WR's you don't need to have a great QB. Look what DMo was able to do last year just being a great TE. Ross knew that and they hooked up for double digit TDs. Ross didn't throw a perfect ball everytime but having other good players make you look good LFR. Now we have at least 4-6 options that can make plays like DMo and Ross still went for 17/5. I think experience at QB is all we need (Ross or JUCO) because having experience to read defenses is what we need at QB with this offense and all these playmakers. To be honest, Im not worried about our offense at all. It's going to be all about the D to push us to that WAC Championship.

Backing up to Ray Holley for a moment... I found an email address for him and sent Ray a brief note. He replied back and I can assure you that Holley is confident (yet humble) and PUMPED UP to be a Louisiana Tech Bulldog! MickeyS14 was right- lining Holley up opposite Myke Compton as a gunner will leave opposing returners no place to hide!

"The opportunity I have been given (by Tech) is something i've been working a very long time for and I can assure to dedicated alumni like yourself that I will do my best to help bring in some W's and keep the excitement high!" -Ray Holley

... and now back to your regularly scheduled 2-deep discussion.

Yes it would have been a Taylor Bennett type situation - 1 to play 1 since he graduated

You need to ask Tech77 about his run in with Mr. Brandt one day....

He was sitting at our table at a big Tech function in Bossier, with a young man whom I assumed to be his grandson. Suffice to say, Gil, must be virile for his age.

I'm intrigued, but not surprised. Sonny D had one of the biggest names in college football when we signed him in Jan. You had to know he was going to draw offensive talent like radar.

For recently graduated Orange Coast College football standout Ray Holley, that catchy phrase has been a way of life as the 5-foot-9, 195-pound running back will take his athletic and academic talents to Louisiana Tech University.

"Throughout my life, I've tried to not let anything discourage me from what I want to accomplish, in football or in life," Holley said. "At Louisiana Tech, there are seven other running backs at practice and they each have specific talents that they bring to the table. Some are bigger, some are faster, some are stronger -- but I hope to prove to the coaches that I have a little bit of everything and that I deserve the opportunity."

Looks to me like that Ray Holley could be the man to watch. Great skills and can do everything. Good speed.
