is anyone keeping track of all the reasons there is NO WAY we will ever get into cusa? there's some really great information on this thread. i especially like the completely made-up academic numbers for Tech.
Like I said, the number of flamers and the intensity bodes well for our chances. When we get close, they come out of the woodwork to put us down.

I always liked the MTSU guy that said regional universities were better than national ones - he couldn't even figure out to read the US News ranking system. Doesn't speak very well for someone's education.
Which part?
MT
WKU
Troy
FIU
Arkansas State all have better stadiums than Tech.
WKU
South Alabama
UALR
MT
ULL
ASU
UNT all have nicer basketball arenas.
Everyone has better baseball stadiums.
FIU
Denver
WKU
MT have bigger athletic budgets than that big $16 million budget you're playing with.
C-USA wants Temple for all sports. Historically strong basketball, huge market.
Temple probably won't leave the A-10 because of their local rivals and they're holding out for the Big East.
Middle has superior facilities, budget and fan support, as well as a superior market (Nashville) to Tech. We're also the top all-around athletic program in the Sun Belt.
WKU has better facilities, a top notch basketball program and a football program that has won a I-AA national title in the last decade. They also split the difference between Louisville and Nashville.
UNT is mostly on potential alone, but they've been to a couple of NCAA tourneys lately and are building a new football stadium. Just being a school with 36,000 students in a Top 5 market is enough to merit consideration.
If you want to argue back, that's fine. If you want to call me stupid and not say anything else, that's fine.
I know what I'm talking about.

Not optimistic about the invite. There are a lot of ways this can shake out, most of which leave us in C*USA. Many of which involve us making the jump, of course, but I think our chances at this point are less than 50/50. I think if BYU goes they stay at 10. If BYU stays, we're in a catfight with Utah State and they have homefield advantage and a lot of goodwill for turning down their non-invite. Do they go with their hearts (USU) or their minds (UH)? It's an open question. I hear we have friends in Fresno and San Diego (and probably Albuquerque when/if UTEP is removed from consideration), but not so much in Fort Worth and Provo.
I want to go (mostly), but unlike you guys we have a good fallback position. unlike a lot of whalers, I genuinely like C*USA. I'll be disappointed for us, but more disappointed for you. You guys deserve better.
Memphis is nothing but a commuter school with very few football fans. Ya'll only fill the "Fred Smith Bowl" (nasty old beat up ass stadium) when Ole Piss comes to town. You are no better than LA Tech. You have a basketball program & that is it. The academics are trash & 99% of the people in Memphis are UT fans. You have nothing but Fred Smith's money. Had you had 1/4 of the football program that Tech has had & still has you guys would be in the SEC.
And another thing. Memphis JC is not USC, Miami, USF or even Houston or USM so take a chill pill & pray that Mr. Smith bribes your way into an AQ conference (Big East-if you call that an AQ conference) & take a hike!![]()
Funny how all of the articles that I've read over the past week never mention all of those fine Sunbelt teams. Every once in a while little ole LA Tech is mentioned but I have yet to hear the list of Sunbelt teams being mentioned for another conference. Maybe I missed that somewhere.![]()
