''Don't be a bad dagh..."
Internet rumors flying that Houston Nutt will announce tomorrow he's leaving Ole Miss for Colorado. Rumor. Grain of salt.
I personally think that North Tx could have done much worse than Dan McCarney...he did make Iowa St relavant and they fell when he left. Would I have made that hire, no, as I would have gone with an up-and-comer.
Can we find someone to take spangler off of our hands?
So much for their continued name change attempt.
Louisiana-Lafayette latest to can their coach

I think ULL should make a serious run at Jeff Bower.
Colorado seems to be taking a pass on Mike Leach, which I think is a mistake. Seems that Belotti is interested, though, and that would be a pretty good match to help Colorado reorient westward.
Not sure what the others should do. I'd imagine that Dana Holgorsen should be getting a look by the BCS schools (I don't think he's interested in anything less judging by some of the comments he made about Conference USA).
University of Houston '01. Any references to "we" or "us" likely refer to UH. Cheers!
If he could pick up another 3.5 million like he got when he left Arkansas, I think he would do it in a minute. He knows he's only got one more year at Ole Miss and he's gone. I wouldn't be too surprised if he gets fired next week. they've got all the ammunition they need right now with his masoli experiment that failed badly. And, he's lost 2 in a row to MSU.
There has been debates going on at goemangreen.com for the past 5-6 weeks since Dodge was terminated. Real JiHad. The idea for a new coach was to hire someone with head coaching shingles on the wall, and someone who could make a big splash to open the new stadium next year. And no, we were not looking at a hot shot "high school" coach!!:bigcry:
IMHO, the man that fit that criteria was Jim Leavitt of South Florida fame, or Francionne. Both were very interested in the job. Then there was interim coach Mike Canales, a fiery guy that got the players on track, won 2-3 games as an interim, and really wanted the job at North Texas. His post game press conferences and post game locker room speaches to his players were inspirational. Good guy who will be a very nice catch for some FBS or FCS program. When fans realized that McCarney was the chosen one, fans and students really pushed for Canales.
I hope McCarney works out and he can get the players to "buy-in" to his program. This will be a defining period in UNT football history, what with the new student fee kicking in, the new stadium, etc. A lot is riding on this hire. Hope it works out.
