60 days is the norm -

IF we are smart we hold "numerous" ceremonies and public events leading up to this -

one after we select the engineering/design firm
one when we get final plans back and go to bid
one when we FORMALLY break ground
one when we open the building

First it gets your name in the news, second it gets your people excited and third it keeps your people in the loop and they feel appreciated -
I agree! We need our folks on that podium.

Someone with the credentials needed to submit such a proposal should do a mockup of a honeycomb design of about four hundred interconnecting doublewides with carports and see if we can sneak that in under $20 million.

I have to say, though, that as excited as I am about what this project REPRESENTS for Tech, I am decidedly unexcited about the facility design itself. Really think we should have gone classic, tying into the architecture of Keeny, et al.

The document says that the design populous came up with is purely conceptual and can be changed for any number of reasons. I'm hoping whoever gets the bid thinks the way you and I do about the concept design and tweaks it to looking more like the historical architecture all around campus.

The part of the design I want changed is the two areas outside the proposed club seating area that just seem to be flat standing area. Seems like wasted space and does nothing aesthetically for me.

We still need to push every part of this project though. Make everything an event.

    ditto

I think 20 years from now the current design will look bad.

I took that part to be plans for future seating expansion. Imagine stands on top of that flat section.

Being able to move fast while the construction industry is in a near collapse and as hungry as they have been in modern times can save us millions. Likewise we could bond some of the cost now at very attractive interest rates.

Yeah, this would probably be the best time to pay for a contractor.
