It would be cool to be able to tote an AR15 for work...until you got into a situation where you actually had to use it.

I shoot the 150 grain 30/30 round. The one shot over 100 was nearer to 250 and I thought I was shooting at the same one that I hit on my first shot or I wouldn't have tried the shot in the first place. I spun the deer while it was walking fast and it never got back-up. On the way to to this deer I shot at 250 I stumbled over the first one that I shot! Great "brush" gun and mine is very accurate. They are very front-heavy guns for their size which makes them very stable when shooting offhand and their short stature makes them great for handling in stands or just stalking or ground hunting. Just make sure the barrel isn't pitted on a used rifle. Take a small flashlight with you when shopping and shine it into the chamber while looking down the barrel.
The one I have was given to me in 1981 from my dad (RIP). He bought the gun around 1955 from Hunt and Whitaker in Monroe, used. I agree when the bullet hits, it stops the deer. That gun was never and still is not accurate so I am assuming all are that way. Howewver, it is fun to shoot and I will never get rid of it.

My Dad has a red dot on his and has killed hogs out to 150 yards consistently with it for 4 or 5 years now.
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?

I started shooting dad's old Marlin 30-30 when I was 9 or 10. I used it until I graduated high school and bought a Remington 700 in 270. Never missed with the 30-30. The 270 on the other hand, I always hit and always have to look for the deer. I was so used to seeing the deer fall with the 30-30, I actually thought that I was missing the shots with my 270.

After further research, discussions and consideration, Browning Maxus was the final choice. I hope the nephew likes, week after next is his graduation.

There is a Belguim Browning from my grandfather in my collection that is at least 60 years old that works everytime, just would not ever shoot steel through it.

Dad still has my grandfather's "Sweet 16" Belgium Browning that we dated (via serial no.) as being manufactured in the early 1910s. That is still the best dove gun I have ever shot. The only odd thing about them the way you have to change the gas rings around depending on if you are shooting high or low brass.

Anyone know of a good place to have a gun restored? The above gun and an old Model 10 of my grandfather's needs to be reblued and stocks refinished. I would like to have it done around North Louisiana. I might even get his British .303 restored as well.

Build your own! I frequent www.ar15.com ... good place to get started. They're pretty straightforward to build. I may or may not be working on my second one now.

I have an Anvil Arms (out of business now) lower with an Armalite upper ... 16" barrel on a collapsible stock. They are a heckuva lot of fun to shoot and mine is a tack driver without optics.

I finally got my dream Rifle! I have wanted a Sako L61R since I was fourteen. This week while I was working in Little Rock I found one in very good condition for a y good price. Early production from around 1968 or so. Now for a good scope.

Just bought the new Leuopold 3 by 9. Put it on my Ruger 10/22 that I recently had fitted with a silencer. Those squirrels will never know what hit 'em!

Anyone else seen the SRM 1216? I've been thinking about a good semi automatic shotgun and I came across this.

I don't know much about the company.

I carry a Sig P238. It's a .380 auto. I looked and looked at .45s, but couldn't find one that fit well in my pocket.
