I for one agree with parts of the article...maybe it should have been framed different and he shoul not sound like a cry baby. I for one do not favor athlectics leaving the shreveport school...i think cusa is a good move but it is not the conference we envisioned. Plus he is right on about dooley.

If you favor athletics at LSUS that means you are AGAINST the merger. Can't have both a complete merger and separate athletics on the Sherveport campus since the Ruston and Shreveport campuses would be part of s single unified university.

Gannett staff written articles to appear in print the next day are usually posted at the will of the online editor. That time is usually after midnight.

The Times articles (except for a few they publish during the day) always go live right at 2:00 AM.

The News-Star's articles are usually published around 1:30 AM, but the times vary a little.

I think the writers' deadlines are 11:00 PM. Not sure though.

My guess is the 12:42 AM time stamp shows when the editor pushed it through, but it didn't go live until 2:00 AM.

I follow the news folks on twitter. I think I remember one of them tweeting about an 11:00 deadline. Not sure.

You can find links to their articles once they are uploaded late night, but you have to have a password to read them until they go live between 1:30 and 2:00 AM.

I've read about the Gannett subscriptions, too. That sucks, but they gotta do what they gotta do. I think I read that Gannett will allow you a limited number of free clicks per month though.

Shreveport Media Is Good At - being proud for what other cities have built, while doing the "Oh By The Way" to most local sports happenings. Here's a great example - The Shreveport Times had a full page blitz for a week on why the Mudbug Fans should choose another league, coach and team and dump what we had built for 3 years at the Hirsch. We were about to move into Century Tel and they thought they new better. I cancelled the paper. We had just won a Championship and they pulled their wisdom on us. Channel 3 and 6 sports directors were on board as well with the Shreveport paper...thay had their opinion and we had ours...What did we as fans do wrong...NADA - but it did help there ratings etc for a bit...but our fans would have nothing to do with their opinions.

Jimmy is desparate to create a situation to make his existance at the paper meaningful. We are building a great program at LA. Tech without the help of our local paper and the local Media. It would be nice to have them on board like the Ruston Daily Leader, but that ain't happening. Our fan base does not look to them for our sports news. So who are their fans that look to them for sports - The Casual Fan, that's who.

Personally I'm proud of the way we reacted to this "reporter's" opinion...uh coulmn, sorry - I really have pity for this guy. Like I said before, we're doing this without them and look what we've accomplished without them...you'd think it would be nice to have them apart of The Banwagon - because as a once famous local media sports writer told me years ago, "it's not our job to promote your team" "It's our job to report on them"...my answer to him - "when does the reporting start ?"

Finally - LA. Tech chose to release their press release on Friday and that should be respected, not be-littled / critisized. Uh - maybe Conference USA asked them to - you suppose. At least the T.V. folks chose to do it that way, this time !

Jimmy is just very uninformed and did not do his homework. CUSA directly prohibited Tech from leaking any information about joining the league until Friday. Tech honored the request as would the admin of any reputable school.

Here's something positive Jimmy could have reported, or, maybe that's what he meant by La Tech is still La Tech. We've always been an overachiever and we were the only school that got in on merit rather than getting picked because of being located in a large metro area of over a million people.

Guys we do need the Shreveport media behind us...that's what that whole "market" thing was about. Ironically i was on a plane from DFW to MLU this afternoon when BVDV and his wife got on. He spotted my Tech shirt and broke into a huge grin..."hey!! We have BIG news tomorrow at noon...are you coming?" I said I wouldn't miss it...but he was tight lipped about what the "big" announcement was going to be.

I even poked a little a bit and said, "i'm sure you can't talk about it...but we're very very excited! Thank you for everything you've done" He was very nice and appreciative.
