I think you may be talking about Stephen Boisson. But again, it wasn't Canada, but Alberta and only after there was a complaint filed. Pretty much, with Boisson and Styne, they are victims of the tactics we see the EPA doing here. Someone causes a big mess in the papers, et al. that these people are evil (without stating a truthful why), then the eventual vindication is swept under the rug and ignored.

BEIRUT, Lebanon – Syrian Christians are being given ultimatums by military commanders of the nation’s opposition movement to leave their homes, prompting what observers say is a form of ethnic cleansing, according to Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.
The demands come from the Sunni opposition, whose leaders are seeking the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is Alawite, an offshoot of the Shiites, G2Bulletin has learned.
The Assad regime generally has protected the Christians, and some serve as senior officials in the government. While many Christians regard the Assad regime as repressive and want an open, democratic, inclusive and religiously tolerant society, they realize that there will be no such developments with a change of regime.
Instead, they believe Assad is the only guarantor of secularism in Syria, under which Christians and Muslims both have rights.
With the demonstrations and increasing violence, however, Christians and other minorities in the country face threats by the predominant Sunni population, which is more radical and seeks the exit of non-Sunnis.
As a result, the Christians, who make up some 10 percent of the 22 million Syrian population, have shown support for the existing Syrian government, much to the consternation of the opposition, which increasingly is being infiltrated by al-Qaida and other Islamic fundamentalist groups.
Among those is the Muslim Brotherhood, which considers the Christians to be infidels. As a result of the ultimatums, Christians are being forced from their home towns and the surrounding countryside, where they are strong and are taking refuge with friends and family in Damascus.
In turn, sources say the opposition has confiscated their goods and property, burned down churches, committed executions and launched what now amounts to a sectarian war.
This kind of targeting of Christians is reminiscent of the brutal treatment they received in Iraq, where hundreds of thousands of Christians fled Islamist militants following the ouster of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

New movie: Jesus is product of Mary being raped
'Blasphemous' film to discount Bible miracles
A new Hollywood film in the works that some are already calling blasphemous will portray Jesus as the product of His mother Mary being raped by a Roman soldier, and show that miracles mentioned in the New Testament were not real.
Paul Verhoeven, who directed previous hits including “Robocop,” “Total Recall” and “Basic Instinct,” is basing the movie on his 2008 book, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
According to Deadline.com, Verhoeven’s take on the life of Jesus discounts all the miracles mentioned in Scripture, including the virgin birth and the resurrection, as Verhoeven doesn’t believe any of them actually took place.
Perhaps the most controversial of Verhoeven’s notions is that “Jesus might have been the product of his mother being raped by a Roman soldier, which Verhoeven said was commonplace at the time, and that Jesus was a radical prophet who performed exorcisms and was convinced he would find the kingdom of heaven on earth, and did not know he would be sentenced to die on the cross by Pontius Pilate,” Deadline reported.

There was a time when churches would never be touched by vandals, mostly out of respect, but the people in this country have lost their believe in God. So, the churches are now fair game.
One thing I'm still seeing in Tylertechsas' posts is wnd.com. It's one of the most disreputable news sources, and many forums just like this one and like a lot of Christian forums will not allow postings from wnd.com.
Actually the main issue with WND that some wish to stay away from is their "birther stance" which they are still hitting as hard as possible. They are solid constitutionalist and it is reflected in many of their articles.

Fifty members of a northern Nigerian church were burned to death in their pastor’s house.
The attack by armed gunmen was only the first in a 12-village spree of violence that left over 100 dead in northern Nigeria’s Plateau State, a region that had previously been outside Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram’s operational area and is the largely Muslim Fulani tribesmen’s homeland.
Yet Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the attacks and threatened even more violence.
Open Doors, USA spokesman Jerry Dykstra says the recent wave of attacks is rapidly turning Nigeria into a deadly religious battlefield, where Boko Haram is declaring Christians must convert … or die.
“Nigeria is truly becoming the new killing field for Christians. Hundreds of Christians have already been brutally murdered – including women and children – by the Boko Haram,” Dykstra said. “The Boko Haram earlier this week said that all Christians need to turn to Islam or ‘they would never know peace again.’ Their goal is make all of Nigeria a country run and dominated by Shariah law.”
Church of Christ of Nigeria officials report that all of their denomination’s church buildings were burned to the ground in the 12-town rampage.

Mexican police are searching for an armed gang that attacked a Christian youth camp outside Mexico City.
Prosecutors said the gang subjected the campers to an ordeal lasting several hours. Seven girls were sexually assaulted and other youths were beaten.
The attackers took cash, cameras and mobile phones and escaped in two stolen vehicles

Attacking Catholic Church corruption is not persecution of Christianity.
Granderson is as liberal as one can be, but he does get some things right every now and then. I think you hate it because it so succinctly describes you. And Gohmert's comments were not taken out of context. Gohmert is backtracking because he knows he screwed up instead of keeping in character and owning up to it.
I have not seen the Gohmert remarks in their entirety, so I can't comment on that. But, why do you call the posting about the NCAA's handling v. the Catholic Church's handling an "assault?" Even you admit it's true. I don't see this as religious persecution. Just because a liberal or the liberal media says it doesn't mean it's not true.
As an example, have you seen them truly frontally attack the Islamic faith for their beliefs per the killings of millions? How about seeing them go to presses/print using the Islamic faith, by quoting the Koran sura by sura and verse by verse, against Muslims? Or even critiquing their Mohammed or Allah on the front page or web site? I doubt you ever will.
