I did last year and bought a case...I mainly use a 20 gauge. I'll keep my eyes open for you.

    Re: Dogtor Evil's Gun Thread

Two points I wanted to bring up. First I wondered if anyone had checked out any facebook groups for getting used guns such as West Monroe firearms for sale or trade or Texarkana gun swap. Secondly, I wanted to let anyone in the Ruston area to know that True Value started carrying guns this week and their prices on new guns are very good. They don't carry much stock, but they can order anything you want.

I imagine the LC9 would be similar. I expect both of them to last a long time, and those that I know that have had issues with Kel Tek have said their customer service is very good and they fix issues with no questions, for what it's worth. My issue with Kel Tek is more they seem to put products on the street and let the customers find the problems. To their credit, however, they clearly fix the issues in later production runs of the same guns. I have had zero problems with my PF9 since break in.

Would I pay $100 more for a Ruger than a Kel Tek? Probably so. But I would definitely want to shoot both before deciding that for sure. If the LC9 has the same very long trigger pull the LCP has I may reconsider that position. At least for $100 difference...

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but also keep in mind for your wife that smaller does not equal easier to handle. (Where's Champ with the TWSS?) My wife is much more comfortable with the .357 magnum from my Ruger revolver with a 6" barrel than she is with either the LCP or PF9 that I own. I'm not saying get a huge revolver -- but do consider something with a little more weight to it. The pocket 9's have a lot of recoil and at least to someone with my very modest skill level take a fair amount of practice to accurately shoot...and they're not particularly fun at the range, either. The most comfortable "range gun" that was also somewhat concealable that I've ever shot was a Sig P239 in 9mm with Hogue grips. Not huge, but it certainly could not be confused for a pocket gun like the LC9 or PF9 could. I'm still annoyed my friend sold that without letting me know!
Thank you (and JL) for the tips. I ended up going with the LC9, because I found one for $299 (plus tax and gun show admission).

Let us know how it works out. That seems like a great price.

I really like it. It does have a long trigger pull, but it's not a very heavy pull at all. It's a good balance between small and easy to handle, as well as light but solid. It has regular sights, so it is easier to shoot (and helps with my proficiency for work). We took it to the range and shot it straight out of the box (I did field strip it first and inspect it, and everything seemed clean and appropriately lubed, so I didn't mess with it). Shot perfectly. It only came with one clip, which, again, is fine for my purposes, but it was a bit of a drag at the range.

I can see why many gun enthusiasts don't like it, b/c it does have a LOT of safety features. (After all, it was designed based on input from a customer survey, so it was driven by the most restrictive gun laws in the country.) All said, though, it suits my purposes just fine. My wife really enjoyed shooting it (and she's a good shot, so I pity the fool that wanders into our abode).

If its like the LCP (and P3AT), it's not hard to learn to stage the trigger. Once I did that, my accuracy increased a lot.

One of my employees wants to trade his Baby Desert Eagle 40 for a 9 and/or a revolver. Anybody interested let me know.

He should try one of the Facebook groups like Shreveport Bossier Firearm Sales.

I think he may have found an outright buyer. He's asking $425.

If anyone has an old AR type rifle laying around gathering dust I would be more than happy to take it off your hands.

I've been back and forth on a small 9mm. I was pointed to the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield in 9. Anyone have any experience with it?

I might be interested depending on condition. I have no idea how to send a message on here anymore. My cell is 503-2551. Send me a text if you don't mind.

Good luck finding one at a decent price. My mother loves the one she bought, but she overpaid for the gun by about $150
