Its fun to watch when the team keeps trying.

Our team, on the other hand, loves to quit. And our coaches love to let them quit.

I get that you think our talent this year was insufficient to win more games, regardless of coaching. I'm still inclined to disagree, but you (and Guiss) have made a strong case for that position.

But how are you ok with the heartless, gutless, namby-pamby lack of effort we saw this year?

Quit throwing the players under the bus. Those guys want to win as bad as you want them to win. They are the ones putting all the effort into it, not you. Go tell IK he is a heartless, gutless, mamby pamby player. I would like to see that!

Incorrect. I'm holding the coaches accountable for failing to prepare and motivate the players.

Those guys want to win as bad as you want them to win.
They hide it well. I know goofing off on a sideline when I see it. And I know that means a team is no longer trying to win.

They are the ones putting all the effort into it, not you.
That is an assumption on your part. You do not know what sort of effort I put into Tech athletics.

Go tell IK he is a heartless, gutless, mamby pamby player. I would like to see that!
IK and Dixon may be the exceptions that prove the rule. I would be glad to tell Coach Holtz that his team, as a whole, appears unmotivated and disinterested. But I dont expect he'd care ...

An athlete that makes it to this level is a competitor. Believe me, they want to win. They want to beat the guy that lines up across from them. If they don't then maybe football isn't their thing in the first place. Maybe they should put on the Champ costume and goof off with the crowd. I sure hope Dykes recruited competitive guys and not goofballs.

The team did not look like it had quit against Tulsa. Some of our fans on the other hand, particularly many of those that chose not to attend because of the weather or because they thought we would not make a good showing .... heartless, gutless, namby-pamby quitters may accurately describe them.

Looks like we've got about 3000 fans with heart, guts, and endurance. How do you think Skip and the admin will add to that number? I don't think the excuse machine is going to help.

Nor will Guisslapp calling us names. I assure you, people's lives are very busy. We tend to support the things that are important to us. If the coach isn't going to have the team ready to play, I have 10 things that can easily replace a drive to Ruston and freezing my butt off to watch a lackluster effort and us get embarrassed. This year I will continue to buy my season tickets. If we get our butts kicked again- like I absolutely expect to again next year, I will have to rethink whether or not I want to spend the money when TECH clearly doesn't care what product they allow out on the field. And, it will not matter what anyone thinks or calls people like me. The butts in seats will decline next year and continue that way until a change is made. People want an exciting product, and they want to win.

Here's an important distinction between fans and players ... Fans pay to be entertained. Players get paid (albeit with tuition, room and board) to play. I'd submit that the greater burden to deliver effort rests with those who are receiving compensation for that effort.

As for the team's effort last Saturday -- I'll concede it was noticeably better than what we've seen lately. But still a far cry from what I'd consider acceptable for a Tech squad.

Great idea…seems as though we're headed in the opposite direction. Holtz is building consistent excuses to excuse his poor performances. However valid the excuses may be, they'll do nothing to build our fan base.

Based on the trend from last year to this year, it seems that way. But there are foundational reasons that was going to be the case no matter what. And those issues are so large that it makes it really hard to evaluate coaching, specifically the direction this coaching staff can take this team in the future.

IMO, we need to see some recruiting results and more player development time to know whether Skip will build a consistent winner.

Forgive me for assuming that someone that prioritizes tech athletics enough to register and be an active member of this forum would not actually place a very high priority on attending a game. I understand that people have other priorities that will interfere from time to time, but I was trying to speak in general - and deliberately not specific to any one person - terms.

Tulsa was the rare exception where the players did not look disinterested in a loss -

They hustled from what I can tell -

But like I said - it appeared to be the exception, not the rule
