11/12: UTSA game (HOMECOMING)

In his 'Bad Beat Downs' segment Scott Van Pelt criticized Skip Holtz, and Tech, for not taking a knee at the end of the game. As I said, because Dawg80 is always right about these things, it was classless. UTSA had all 3 of their timeouts and did not use any of them. That means the team with the big lead should honor that and simply let the clock expire. UTSA had waved the white flag, surrendered, and we rubbed their noses in it.

Van Pelt also said Holtz is on a lot of lists across the country for current/potential vacancies. That should come as no surprise to anyone. Doesn't mean he will be hired away, just that, of course, many schools will consider him. But he got a major black eye on national TV (ESPN) last night.

I was not pleased with the way we conducted ourselves at the end of the game. Should always take the high road...no matter the opponent. I remember Bicknell having our QB, Causey, I think it was, take a knee 3 times inside of the ULL 5 yard line when we whipped their azzes down there. As we were leaving the stadium that night I had several Cajun fans express "thanks, your coach is pure class."

Disappointed in Holtz. Not to mention, what would you think had Boston Scott or Jamar Smith gotten hurt scoring that meaningless TD?

Yup, down to 2. And I agree, if Skip not being "Dawg80's" definition of classy keeps him here a few more years, I'm all for it!

When the game was over and the opposing coaches went to the center of the field to do the "good game" hand shake, was I seeing things are did the UTSA coach seem to be pretty short with his comments and kind of classless with CSH? CSH pretty well knows everyone in the business and they all know of him and usually there is a little conversation and smiling at mid-field at the end of the game, but it did not look like it this time, or did I not see things correctly?
Oh, and yes, I think the scoring situation was handled correctly, Tech was charitable enough when they put in the 2,3, & 4's, did not look to me like UTSA ever cried "Uncle".

Another part of the frustration within their fanbase stems from the fact their fans were led to believe at the inception of the program that it would be moving up to bigger and better things very quickly. So the losing within CUSA stings. Not competing at all stings even more. It reminds me a lot of what UL-Lafayette's coaches and administrators were telling their fans a few years ago about the Big 12. None of it was true.

At our game in San Antonio in 2013 their fans were convinced they were going to get an exemption from the NCAA to play in a bowl game even though they were ineligible. That was never going to be the case, but their administrators led the news media to believe it to be true. When it didn't happen their fans were lashing out at the NCAA, the bowls within Texas, the CUSA affiliated bowls, and others. They weren't honest with their fans from the start, and it leads to this type of backlash.

If the last TD was classless, then Craft scoring on the onside kick and Trent kicking the PAT were classless as well. Can't believe they didn't get on to Craft for not immediately falling down on the ball instead of scoring.

Not gonna worry about what UTSA fans think. Skip isn't known to run up the score and is known as one of the "good guys" in the college football world. Those Beep-Beep fans are butt-hurt.
