This has baffled me for two years now. It is almost like our defenders feel they are doing their job if they take on the blocker instead of tackling the ball carrier. I honestly don't think I have ever seen it happen as often as it does to our defense. Often there is almost no effort to get off the block and attack the ball. It sounds absurd but I have seen it happen way too often.

Just shows the difference in coaching talent/experience between Baker and Diaz. Diaz brought his aggressive/variable mantra while teaching tackling fundamentals, Baker only seems to have retained most of Diaz's mantra while being unable or unwilling to emphasize the tackling fundamentals. I wonder if it would be possible to hire Diaz for a day for a tackling camp?

Used to be able to check out videos from the public library on such topics. Yes, I said videos as in VHS. Maybe they are on DVDs now. Have the fellows watch it, then go out on the field and try to duplicate it.

    Couldn't hurt....

It was after his big 74 yard reception where he zig-zagged defenders against WKU

Agreed, I was just joking really. I think we need a coach/coordinator who not only teaches these fundamentals, but critiques the defense every time they mess-up their fundamentals throughout the season. And I mean constantly teach it. Diaz did that for us. Who can step up to do that in the future?

Lol! No, not in the days of iron man football when coaches enjoyed watching their player puke during conditioning drills.

Exactly. Fred Dean didn't spout off and TELL you he was going to hurt you, he just lined up and HURT you bad physically.

Frankly, I've had enough of the boy scouts on this team. But that's just me.

he asked. I provided the answer. You can take my post and add "" around it and - K. Hester to the end of it and it would be accurate.

You can put S&C ahead of deer.

You guys need to go and talk to Hester. He's pretty approachable. The dude trains Navy Seals. In the S&C world he's kinda a big deal.
