What's bad with saying "It's been a long grind and I want my players rested for the last three conference series...."?
As I said- with the injury to Washam - it APPEARS that not adding games was the right call, not that was why he didn't add games -
I figure those guys will get work tomorrow in Lafayette - I think he was looking for them to answer the bell yesterday and they didn't - I don't see it was tinkering with the staff as much as Seniors being given ONE LAST CHANCE
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
...because that's not all of what he is saying. Had he limited it to that fine, but he threw in the studies and social life thing. That's just not an excuse.
Not that we could not have won w/out #10, but we didn't have to win the games. We needed to play them.
I'm glad we did not play it and hurt our RPI. But what I have read and heard is that both teams agreed ahead of time that the game would be considered a "halted" game if rain hit after it was started and before it was official. I'll bet we would have kept our agreement if their coach had not reneged on that agreement.
Here is the NCAA rule. It is contingent on the prior agreement by both teams.
SECTION 9. a. A game that has been stopped at any time after its start
because of inclement weather, darkness, light failure or curfew may be continued
RULE 5 / The Game-Its beginning and end 53
by mutual agreement reached before the start of the contest by the competing
institutions, or according to conference or tournament policy, to a predetermined
point of completion. Any such game must meet the conditions of Rule 5-8 to be
considered a regulation game. A halted game is for special conditions and is not
intended to supersede the conditions of a regulation game.
b. A halted game must resume play at exactly the point of being halted, with
the lineups and batting orders of both teams exactly the same, subject to the
rules of substitution; any player (or pitcher) who played, or was announced
as a substitute before the game was halted, must be in the lineup when play
resumes or be ineligible for the remainder of the game.
c. The Halted-Game Procedure also may be used in nonconference games, but
this agreement clearly should be understood and mutually be agreed upon by
the coaches and directors of athletics of the competing institutions before the
start of the contest. When the Halted-Game Procedure is agreed upon prior
to the start of a nonconference contest and the contest cannot be finished; the
unfinished game becomes “no contest" if the game has not met the conditions
of a regulation game.
d. If a league, conference or tournament committee wishes not to be bound by
the tie-game rule and wishes to complete a regulation tie game from the point
at which the game was halted, it may do so by stating same when formally
opting to use the halted-game rule. Otherwise, a game stopped with the score
tied is considered a tie game, not a halted game.
e. When a halted game is part of a doubleheader, it shall be the first game,
and the second game shall be the regularly scheduled game for that date; if a
doubleheader is scheduled, it shall be the first game of three games.

Comment From Ben
Louisiana Tech is now over .500 in conference play at 13-11. They sit at 32-15 overall, #38 in the RPI, and #9 in non-conference RPI. After Charlotte and FAU were both swept this weekend, are the ‘Dogs in the tourney if the season ended today?
Kendall Rogers:
Ben — I don’t want to make guarantees, but I do think Louisiana Tech will be in our field this week. The main thing holding the Bulldogs up until now was the conference record, and they’ve rectified that issue. I think this is a scary team moving forward given the fact they have postseason experience.
Dogs stay in the last 4 in on warren Nolan. Charlotte drops to last 4 out.
Big blown opportunity tonight. Gotta win out the regular season to take the pressure off of getting a few wins in Biloxi. Need two straight sweeps.
