Hero homeowner loaded guns, prayed before inmate escapees surrendered
Published June 17, 2017Fox News
The hero Tennessee homeowner who deputies say helped nab two escaped inmates wanted in the killings of two prison guards says it was divine intervention that helped him.“I realized I had two ex-cons wanted for murder who had just shot at law enforcement who had nothing to lose and for some reason they surrendered and laid down on the concrete in my driveway,” Patrick Hale, 35, of Christiana, said Friday. “If that doesn't make you believe in Jesus Christ, I don't know what does.”
Hale told a news conference that he heard Thursday that escapees Donnie Rowe, 43, and Ricky Dubose, 24, were in the area he got his guns ready.
“I loaded every weapon I could in my house to be prepared in the event they needed to be used,” he said, according to Fox 17 Nashville.
Moments later he saw them climb a barbed wire fence and approach his home in rural area in southern Tennessee.
“I prayed like I had never prayed,” he said.
He said he then called 911 and “grabbed my sweet little daughter.”

He thought of running back in the house to hide in a panic room. Instead he decided to leave.

"We got in the car and backed up quick only to find the gentlemen had been running and got much closer to my house," Hale said, according to the Tennessean. "They began to take off their shirts and wave them at us as if to slow us down."
He thinks they may have thought his vehicle belonged to law enforcement.
Hale said the that while waiting for deputies to arrive the fugitives got up to get a drink of water faucet and then laid back down.

Your biased opinion of whether something was newsworthy or not is absolutely irrelevant. And it is another obvious attempt to deflect the real issue that this thread is about.
CNN's reporting of Thursday's events was unquestionably misleading (at best). Taken by itself it might not mean much, but it is part of a clear pattern of deceptive reporting by CNN in the last couple of years.
They didn't correct it. It was never wrong to begin with it. They probably added to it because Republicans were whining about not getting credit for their prayers.
As far as why it was reported the way it was in the first place, I have already told you why. Seems obvious that they were emphasizing that Democrats were showing a moment of brotherhood with Republicans (after what appears to be a politically motivated attack on Republicans) in what has been a pretty ugly era of politics. The fact that Republicans were praying too was just not as relevant. First, Republicans always try to flaunt their godliness. Second, it was their party that was attacked and one of their own that was still in critical condition at the time.
Republicans praying is not news. Democraps prayng is shocking, and very news-worthy.
Bet Lucifer Facebook-messaged Pelosi with a "What gives? You abandoning me?"
(of course we all know it was just for show)
It was wrong not to have said both teams prayed together after the game. Party affiliation did not need to be mentioned in that part of the story.
Did what CNN originally reported provide an accurate description of what really happened (both teams praying)? No. And that settles the argument for anyone using rational thinking.
CNN also could have mentioned the weather was nice that night, but it also was not very relevant.
The article is nearly irrelevant. The only reason anyone would care about it - and I wouldn't imagine many would - is for the reasons I already stated - that Democrats were making an at least token level of support to Republicans. Everything else is truly a non-story.
