More to the point, Goosey states if ANYTHING is posted on Facebook it automatically reverts to being false! Given that, we need to post every losing score in Tech sports' history on FB. Then, by magic, we'll get a "LOL you don't really believe that's true" and whallah! Tech is undefeated in every sport since we started playing 100+ years ago.

Personally, I never wanted them in there in the first place, because I really think it was the Brits that did the most to win WW2 by refusing to surrender to a superior force and enduring as much as they did.

If they had not resisted like they did, there would have been no Mormandy invasion.
We whipped 'em pretty good in Normandy too!

But, yeah, I agree with your sentiments. Way past time the western, civilized nations closed their borders to the dregs of the world. As well as others, like Japan.

The knock-on effects of small businesses getting wiped out will be felt everywhere. It will cause a much deeper and longer recession all for a black swan cash flow event that businesses don’t normally need to be robust to. Federal leadership could go along way to addressing this. Cash flows should resume after a couple of months.

Some excellent data work in this article, basically showing that a complete shutdown reduces the fatality rate of this disease by 10x.

Everyone needs to do their part.

Oh, Goosey is getting all goose-bumpy! (that's appropriate, eh). Businesses are closing, people are losing their livlihoods and we can all blame Trump for it. Oh boy! Giddy!!!

As for "Federal leadership..." it was tried under the obummer administration. Back in...2011, I think it was, Congress funded a 3-year plan to offer emergency planning/contingency planning to small business via an SBA program. I was part of the leadership team for Louisiana. I personally hired the consultant to oversee the program for 13 parishes in central Louisiana. She was an attorney, whose practice focused on small business, and she held an MBA to boot. Her husband had just taken a position at Rapides Hospital (Alex) and they were relocating from Charlotte, NC. She was looking for something to bridge the gap while she decided if she wanted to pass the bar to practice in Louisiana. Bam! I lucked into a mega-talented and very, very capable person to oversee the 3-year pilot program. Yes, Louisiana, along with Florida, was chosen to test pilot this, planned-to-be Federal program, since we had so much experience with dealing with disasters around here. We had very little luck...

Basically the vast majority of small business owners had ZERO interest in anything resembling planning for bad things to happen, even though our staff would do most of the tedious work for them. Fact is, most small businesses fail due to piss-poor management. And those you see still in business, are mostly living on the edge again due to poor management and planning. For instance, even in the best of times, 85% of all start-up restaurants fail inside of 5 years. I have mentioned before I was a fulltime business consultant and still am involved on a part-time basis now. Often you just can't make some folks follow sound advice. I would beat my head against the wall as I watched businesses close for no good reason, just ridiculous mismanagement...

Just yesterday I saw a longtime client is shutting down their business. I was aghast. I made a purchase at their business just last week and chatted with them...everything was fine. Seems the wholesale supplier for the bulk of their products just sent them a renewal with vastly increased pricing. This happened before and I was able to negotiate a better deal for them. I offered to do it again, but they said after 17 years they are simply tired of this business and want to do something different anyway. This will cost 11 fulltime and several part-time jobs. In this case it is not mismanagement, they have run a successful enterprise for years. But such is the nature of small business.

Yes, this Covid-19 event will push a lot of small businesses over the edge. Hey, let's all get giddy!

Your governor didn't react in a panic like way.

Our idiot governor did and it has caused hysteria here in even the smallest communities.

You are right. Everyone needs to do their part. Unfortunately your fellow voters reactions contribute to the hysteria rather than "doing their part".

No one is giddy. But a lot of unnecessary loss can be avoided by some common sense solutions. We have squandered too much time already. We have known this is coming for months now.

I read it. My governor used an executive order to mandate something (gathering of more than 250) he can't do. He basically asked us to do something but made it sound "official". It and the FOUR WEEK school closure thing has caused hysteria. I realize that has been part of your dream from day one, but it was handled poorly.

The first common sense solutions were shot down by Nancy, Chuck, and the rest of open border fellow voters.

Everyone else will end up shutting down for at least 4 weeks. Other states have put similar bans on large groups too. The article I posted explained why that is necessary. You could just read it, you know.

Btw, Trump declared a national emergency to basically block one spouse from seeing their spouse in a nursing home. Your governor’s actions are hardly extreme compared to that.

    This IS an emergency.
