Guy in ATL was not unarmed.. don't think he needed to be killed, but he had officers taser and fired it at officers. Under Georgia law, a taser is considered a weapon and under GA law, the guy fired a weapon at the officer. Again, not saying he deserved to die, but that is how the law is written.
The point of the post was.. tonight in ATL.. if you call 911.. no one is going to show up.. If you commit armed robbery, sexual assault, etc no one is coming to help..
How is the law written?
The problem the officer has is that the victim fired the taser, then the officer dropped his own taser, pulled his own gun and shot the victim multiple times in the back.
That isn’t self defense or defense of others. The taser had already been discharged.
Reports are now coming in from ATL mayor saying police have not walked off the job.. So not sure really who to believe at this point. Even if the police walked, the mayor has to say this in an attempt to keep order. guess I will wait until tomorrow morning to see what happens overnight.
Many tasers have ability to fire twice, in case the first ones hit say a coat or jacket and don't make contact with the skin. Not sure if this one had a second set of darts or not. The DA who is under tremendous political pressure brought murder charges today against officer. Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked to look into this incident and they haven't completed their investigation, nor were they aware of the DA's press conference today announcing charges. The GBI stated that they will complete their investigation in a professional and unbiased process. I think that the policeman will be found not guilty of murder because the DA overcharged the officer. Had he charged him with manslaughter I think you get a conviction.
The blow-hard DA who is under investigation himself for sexual harassment and improper use of non-profit funds said that the taser had been fired twice by the suspect. There is only one obvious firing visible in the video.
If the pursuing officer reasonably didn't know (very likely) that the taser had been fired twice, murder is out the window and even a high-degree manslaughter charge could be a stretch. The assault charges against both officers are probably slam-dunks based on what happened after the suspect was shot. But a good lawyer can probably make most of the rest disappear.
And a change in venue should immediately be demanded by the defense. Fairbanks sounds like a reasonable choice because I don't trust BLM influence over the lower 48 right now.
And I need to add that said blow-hard DA is also in a tough re-election fight. 100% political prosecution (if not also persecution) through and through.
I haven't read that, but it's certainly possible. This is a case that likely wouldn't have resulted in a charge 6 months ago (not that it shouldn't have been). I saw it reported that the charge was felony murder. Felony murder is when someone is killed while the person who did the killing was committing a felony. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I can't watch those videos, but from the description, I think this will be a tough charge to get a conviction on.

It is now widely reported that the second officer is not testifying against the officer wrongfully charged with murder. It has not been widely reported that this officer suffered a concussion when he was feloniously attacked by the now-dead suspect. It also has not been widely reported that the now-dead suspect had violated his probation and would have been sent straight to jail to resume his probated sentence if he had been taken into custody.
