Yep, this is the point that is being missed.
We had a president that thought out of the box, a "why not" kind of guy that was willing to work with private companies and remove government obstacles to SOLVE problems....fast. We are back to the clerical bureaucrats running the show.

I have made a small fortune on "vice stocks" like Altria (MO), a cigarette maker. I figure stupid people are gonna smoke, so hell! I might as well profit from it.
This is one area where I agree with Goosey. My advice to everyone, if you're not already investing in the stock market, come on in, the water is fine!

Actually the work began in 2002 with the SARS mess -
Just a convenient piece of information that doesn't fit the narrative
Just like the push in the early 50's to develop an adequate polio vaccine - was the impetus and $$$ from higher ups was in place one was brought to the public in less than 36 months....

Top Chinese Virologist Known as 'Bat Woman' Warns New COVID Variants Will Keep Emerging (newsweek.com)

Acadian Ambulance, which has been assisting in Orleans Parish for the past 2 weeks, is now saying it has run out of places to take covid patients in the New Orleans metro area.
Last night, St. Tammany Parish hospital had patients sitting on sidewalks outside the emergency room, as there was no room in any of their waiting areas.
Louisiana has only a handful of ICU beds available in the entire state. Arkansas is in the same boat. Fewer than 10 available in the state.

Since July 26 Louisiana has gone from 1,390 covid patients in hospitals to nearly 3,000 today. I am assuming we'll top 3,000 in the next few days.
The problem is there is no room left in hospitals. There is no such thing as going to 4,000.
At some point this week alternative facilities for covid patients will have to be opened if this doesn't slow way down. The Convention Center in New Orleans, perhaps the River Center in Baton Rouge, the Cajundome in Lafayette.
